Well I will be getting the measurements once I get back to the Taxi's place (yes I am getting my B-Day Buck mounted). And I got a doe last weekend. Get out there and get em boys. I left the camera at the cabin and will get the pics up as soon as I get it back.
That is pretty cool to get a birthday buck... I will probably never have the opportunity as my birthday is in the end of February, our season ends the begining of Februray. Congrats on the doe!
well guys im still out there pushing...Shotgun came in last Sat. and has put a ton of pressure on the deer. I have seen a ton of bucks but only 2 shooters...im keep at it and get one down for us
I plan on taking a Doe tonight for my brother and his gf. The wind isn't exactly where I want it but I have seen deer from this stand every night sit this year. I am also hoping a buck might sneak in, tomorrow brings temps in the 20's so this will also be my morning spot since it is the heaviest travel route.
In response to Buckeye's mass text - "Slow down there overachiever our rut hasn't even started yet."lol I am still out there with the best 20 days of the season still ahead of me. My entire season lasts until Mid January. I am not hunting as much as I normally do, but I am still out there 2-3 days a week. I've not had anything over about a 120" within bow range....seen two different bucks that probably score in high 20's or low 30's but not in bow range. Still have high hopes as rut just about to begin. I also have a trip with a friend in mid December on Mississippi/ Louisiana border. He says there are big bucks there, at least for the Southeast. So, no don't count me out just yet. I am confident I'll knock a doe down before season ends and hopefully will connect on a buck..still holding for a 130'ish at this point.....lots of season left.
lol, you definitely won't be counted out... I'm with you, I always loved hunting the Texas rut, this will be the first time since 97 that I can't do it. I have faith flap :D
I don't know if the fat lady is singing just yet but I bet she's at least clearing her throat. Our rut has come and gone and I just got back from my Louisiana trip and still don't have a buck down. I didn't see anything in the realm of what I was looking for in Louisiana and only 1 buck at home that interested me. Had him at 8yds but it was a "quartering to" shot which obviously I didn't take. Hewent off in the brush and never presented another shot. I will still hunt some (my season goes until mid January), but I am about to spend the majority of the remaining December snow skiing in Colorado and then I will be catching up on work, so the chances of me getting a buck from this point forward is pretty slim. I feel confident I'll knock a few doe down yet, but unfortunately we need a heck of a lot more than just 50 points. But as they said in "Angels in the Outfield", it could happen. Good luck to those of you still out there.
Finally got back out tonight. Had some yearlings and a small six cruise through, I will be out again in the morning and tomorrow night. Anybody know if Madhunter or Joey are turning their bucks measurements in?
Pulled a rookie mistake last night good thing it wasn't the buck I was after that busted me. Just a couple of does. Those were the first does I have seen while I was hunting in over 90 hours.
So, I have been away a while due to some very rough personal issues going on in my life. Here is the video link to the buck I got on my B-Day. It is the first draft so to speak and the video is kind of shaky since it is the first time with the camera and two people in a stand for both of us. I will get the score posted soon, as well as the doe that I shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DC8tBE_nXE8
Well guy's I have one more day to hunt. I was out this weekend and wiffed on a doe. I shot like 3 feet right of her. The next day I took a few practice shots and my sight was way off. I got it all back to where it should be then never saw a mature doe to take. Next Saturday is my last day to get it done, it doesn't look good for a buck about half of them shed already.
