Saturday i made the 1.7mile walk back to a good spot on public land only to have a guy follow me and set up within 100yds of me. I ended up seeing 6 deer, 2 scrawny bucks. I left mid day, couldn't stand to hear that guy use his bleat call one more time.
I had a lot of deer movement tonight, just nothing big enough to shoot. Had a 115 eight come in and a small eight hit one of the three mock scrapes I have. Here is a picture of the cute little guy working it, I will be back out in the morning
Only in IL brotha that you can have pressure and the deer show up. That happens up here and the property is shot.
How are you supposed to shoot a big buck, if it were standing in that scrape? I do not see a clear lane at all.
OK, So I have been away for a while. I have had a lot going on with school and work. As some of you know I have a b-day on Nov 3rd. So I went out to hunt for a couple days and finally killed a deer on my b-day. It is surely not the biggest deer I have taken but it has been a goal for quite some time to make this happen so, size be damned I am sure happy. I also got it on video, well, almost. First for that too. I will get the video cleaned up and get it posted with a couple more pics later in the week, and I will get it measured up for the contest.
Mud and Mad Congrats on the kills! I've always wanted a birthday kill but its in June so i'll have to start groundhog hunting again. I had another 8 at 15 yards today, he charged a spike and ran right through my opening. 4 days left
Guys, I shot a buck today! Season ends tomorrow, so i was starting to get nervous. He's not as big as the one that juked my arrow but i'm very happy with him. He'll be a solid 80" for the team.
Congrat's Fat. As for me I have one more day to bowhunt before the boom boom sticks come out. I passed 2-8 points in the last two weeks. I'm still holding out hope for the buck I've been after I know he got with a doe, hunting him is going to change a little.
Way to go Fats! I still have two months but Shotgun starts Friday. I have had four encounters with a big eight and haven't been able to seal the deal. Frustration is getting the better of me about now but I am off until Friday. This afternoon I saw 11 does and a small eight that was around 100-110" that I passed on. The good news is that I have seen deer every sit for the last three weeks, the bad is I haven't had a solid shot on a buck I want to take. I might take a doe Thursday morning if a mature one presents a shot.
