I’ll be heading up for an evening sit tomorrow after my boys’ soccer game. The acorns seem to be drawing them in to some of our spots usually better during the rut, but I’ll take it. I passed on this guy last year, but don’t think he’ll get the free pass again this year…I’ve gotten him twice this week around 5:30 in the evening about 25 yards from a stand, fingers crossed he makes the same mistake tomorrow!
i botched a shot today guys. buck came in and stopped short of where I thought he would he did present a broadside shot and I just wasted it I didnt know the range and I made a couple mistakes. I have 2 pins a 20 and a 40 In the moment i thought my 40 was a 30 and not knowing distance I put the 40 on botton of heart and let loose. Just right over its back. Found no blood on arrow at all. Bummed but not, 2 years ago I shot my buck on my first sit and that sucked for the rest of the year. checked cameras while there too.
Good luck to all the dudes getting out this weekend and happy hunting! Let’s get on the board. I just got a barbary sheep tag for December in New Mexico. One of the guys at my unit drew it and is now deploying. New Mexico allows military to transfer tags for deployment to other military. So that’s pretty awesome. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
had my coffee in kitchen with back door open before church this morning while it was in the 40s outside that feeling is amazing! Bring on the cold!
New week and currently 4 teams are on the board with I believe 1-2 more about to be. Let’s get it this week! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
if this shows up twice i apologize, having some issues with my phone and the forum I missed that buck on Friday. he came back today, couple days away after him not knowing what happened and back at the midday movement
First sit this morning. Couple does came by but stayed just out of range. I could’ve smoked a spotted fawn but decided to give him another year to fill out. I did manage to get a trash panda. Saw him coming in as I was getting ready to climb down so I sat back down and nocked my arrow with a small game point. He gave me a clear shot at 35 yds and I took it. I pulled the shot a little bit but got lucky because it ended up hitting him right in the noggin and he dropped instantly. Now I just need to get one or 2 more and it’ll be time to bust out the crock pot. I’m gonna head back out in a couple hours for an evening sit. Hopefully a doe or a buck will come within range but if not I’ll settle for another coon or maybe a possum.
You guys shootem up ! Oct 14 thru the 21st is game time in Missouri for me. That will be hunt 1 of two there and then back to Alabama. Probably take a day to two to get dialed in on what they’re doing in Missouri and then some meat should hit the ground. Getting everything ready now and shooting as much as possible. No room for error on that property. Buck of a lifetime could step out at any moment. Good luck and you guys be safe out there !
I need to just find 2 free days and go shoot a doe early Oct. Day to shoot day to cut Last handful of years I've only wanted to take 1 deer, this year I do plan on 2. Freezer is a little empty and as my kids are getting bigger and eating more I can justify shooting a 2nd deer. I'm hoping to contribute at least 175 points this year, but really want to make the 200 point club!
Just spotted a herd of deer along the edge of the woods up by the teebox on the hole in hunting tonight and they’re heading my way. I’m thinking that they will either stay just in side the tree line which will bring them right under my stand after they round the corner or they’ll come out of the woods onto the golf course and head towards the pond which means I should have a 30-40yd broadside shot when they cross my shooting lane.
Well they did come in like I expected but they took too long and it was too dark to get a shot off when they arrived.
