I’m back out in the stand this morning too and have already had a couple deer moving through the brush.

 

father in law hunted the land Wed Thurs Friday. said nothing was moving, our cameras show the same. No idea why our deer arent moving. The October lull is apparently at the beginning of November on our land.
I travel for work over gun season, but then again after Thanksgiving when I would normally try to get a good couple days in.
Im out until probably Christmas. I enjoy hunting in snow but am not to proud to say Ill switch to a crossbow when its super cold.

Depending on work projects and the Mrs' attitude towards it I will try to take 1 day PTO on a friday to do an all day sit, then can process at home on a Saturday

Well it almost came together yesterday for my sister. She had our #1 buck come out checking scrapes, and was in a trail that would have given her a 15-20 yard shot. Of course he decides to change his direction, giving her no shot…so close!

 

Well got a buck with the gat. Heading back to New Mexico now. Will be back the first week of December on a work trip. I will bring my bow and try and hunt some.

its gun season in Missouri - so I can't be hunting, plus I'm in St Paul MN for work.
Had my 9 year old make his own arrows on Sunday - I'll try to get some pictures up, but figured if you want to shoot and if you want certain things on your arrows you need to learn to do it yourself.
So Sunday after church we did inserts, wraps, and fletchings.
Didn't get a chance to shoot them yet, but we will probably on Sunday when we're at the in laws for dinner - they live on an acreage where we can shoot. I live in the middle of town where you probably wouldn't want an 9 year old shooting a compound bow.

 

Hey there guys. I have just done a poor job of posting. I have two deer to enter for the contest. The only unfortunate part is the order in which I shot the two bucks. Smaller one two weekends ago and the bigger one this morning.

Two weeks ago my 9 yr old and I were sitting together. A doe came out but wouldn’t get close enough. About 15 minutes later he said dad I see a buck. Had no intention of shooting him other than he had a broken leg. I was really proud of my son who said dad I think you should shoot him and take him out of his misery. So he got 17 yards away and put the kill shot on him. Told my son I was proud of him for making the call and that sometimes you have to do the right thing.

Then this morning I had a nice one come in and shot him at 7 yards. Ended up with a double lung heart shot. Still went 100 yards which was surprising. I need to get everything measured up and will get them posted.

I’m back out for an evening hunt tonight before gun season starts tomorrow. I’ll still be out with my bow hoping that something good gives me a shot! Been a slow year for me so far, haven’t seen a deer older than 1.5 years old, but there’s still some time for that to change.
