I’m supposed to be heading out to hunt this weekend, but it’s looking like a wash out for me too. I’m hoping that there are a few open windows for me to get out there, but if not, I guess I’ll move some cameras around instead.

FIL pulled some chips yesterday and he texted me these.
There are a handful of bucks I'd shoot but walking around right now

Forgot to update y'all yesterday. Had 3 small bucks by one after another. I was sure my target would be behind them. Was a no show again. Fun to have small bucks in bow range at once though.

Looks like some good deer. I feel this is our weekend to get on the board. I am counting down to November when I can finally get out. Still shooting every day.

Sitting out in the woods this morning watching over a radish plot. Already had a small buck show up, hopefully that’s a good sign of things to come! Good luck to anyone else out this morning.

I’m going out this evening. Going to take daughter’s new crossbow out and see how it shoots and try to put a doe down.

Ended up seeing 4 different little buck this morning, all within the first 1.5 hours. All of them would have given me a shot opportunity, which was awesome. I always say, if I needed food, I would have been able to provide this morning!

Hopefully the big boys are up and moving this evening!

Saw 6 deer this evening. No arrows released. I did see a stud of an 8 point battle it out with an average 10 at last light. That was the highlight of my evening.

Went out last night and didn’t have anything moving. Back out again this morning in a different spot, hunting an oak flat, hoping to catch something coming through.

Whelp, another treestand stolen. He found my trail camera and took that too.

I’ve decided I’m gonna put an end to it. Just ordered 3 new summit aluminum climbers. I chose those because the treads for the foot platform are hollow aluminum tubes so I can cut a hole in the bottom side of one of the rear tubes on each climber and hide an airtag and a tile tracker in it. Then I’m gonna take it to local body shop and get them to bondo the holes so that it’s impossible to tell that they’re there. Also the bondo will provide an opening for the rf signal to get out since a fully enclosed aluminum tube would render them useless. Then I’ll just give the whole stand a camo spray paint job since the original finish is powder coat and it would be near impossible to match the texture and color with paint. So by randomly covering the whole thing with splotches of camo spray paint it won’t raise any suspicions that the bondo’ed area has been repainted. I realize the battery’s only last a year so every year I’ll have to chip out the bondo and pay to get it redone, but In the past 11mo’s I’m already out $3k in deer stands so that’s chump change and I doubt It’ll take a year to catch him. I’m putting all 3 stands in fairly easy to find spots and all I need him to do is steal one of them then it’s just a matter of time until somebody with an Apple iphone walks within 50’ of it or somebody with the tile app gets within 400’ and I’ll have him. (I’m using both because folks who have IPhones are more common than folks who have a tile app on their phone, but AirTag only gets 50’ of range and 1yr battery while tile gets 400’ range and 2 year battery and I wanna give myself the best odds and the trackers are relatively cheap compared to the body shop or the price of the stand if it got stolen and nobody with the right phone or app got close enough). If he keeps up at the current rate and doesn’t all the sudden grow a conscience or decide to quit while he is ahead then I imagine it will probably only take a couple weeks until I have him.

Well that’s definitely one way, wow. That sucks man. When I was stationed at Bragg, a trapping buddy of mine had a cell cam stolen. They didn’t turn it off and put on their bedroom dresser. He got pics of his gf or wife undressing. He took the pics, blurred out the inappropriate parts and posted it on fb. Within a couple hrs the dude hit him up begging him to take the pics down. He got his camera back haha

I had my first sit of the year on Saturday. I saw one doe at 35yrds, if she had gotten 5yrds closer she would have been in trouble. I took Sunday to dial in the rest of my sets for the weeks ahead.

Got word from the farm in north Missouri quite a few good bucks. Acorns haven’t dropped quite yet. No chasing yet. Good food sources still in. I will be there starting nov 7-13.

Just shot a doe. Shot felt good. Gonna give it 15-30 before climbing down. I’m not gonna lie, i think it is pretty small. It was a lone doe so it’s hard to tell for sure but it didn’t look big. Any other year I’d have given her a pass but after spending the first month of the season dealing with stolen deerstands instead of hunting I decided to just send it. Either way a small deer is better than no deer and itll put 50pts on the board for us regardless of the size.
