Didn't get out this evening, but I'll be in a stand in the morning. Anyone else hunting this weekend?

 

I made it out yesterday morning to a spot I really like on public land, its a long walk roughly 3/4 of a mile which Im feeling today thanks to a bad hip.I got in there with my climber early only to have some hunters flashlight coming my way in the dark ... luckily he must have setup down wind of me. I had a doe come in with 2 little bucks pestering her and a little bit later her 2 fawns came by followed by a morning of 5 small bucks in total. Never saw a mature buck. Oh well back at it again maybe tomorrow.

 

Gun hunting in Missouri. Seeing plenty bucks chasing but nothing I want to pull the trigger on. 115 -125 range. Looking for 140 or so. Good luck to all you guys and hoping we can get some more points before it’s over.

Lots of bucks hit the ground today with opening firearms. I should have gone out, dad texted me that a big 10pt was chasing a doe through my farm. Really hoping it was the 10 I shot and couldnt find.

 

I made it out to bowhunt public land yestetday morning and i blew it. I sat on a pinch on top of a ridge that i knew the deer like to bed on the side of the ridge. Was frosty and my one of my target bucks( picture below ) snuck in behind me & i didnt hear him until itwas to late. I tried to arrow him at 25 yards but to much brush deflected my arrow & it was a clean miss over his back and he went back the way he came. Gratefull i didnt wound him. I watched does & fawns & small bucks go by all morning, seen another shooter buck to far away. Seen lots of deer all morning. At 11:29am I decided to get climb down my tree only to turn as im starting to climb down to see my target buck is back and walking by me at 22 yards in the wide open. Talk about pissed off, i could of spit nails i was so mad. Oh well I'm gonna be back there next time i have the right wind.

 

I won't be getting out again until Thursday evening.

Headed back out this evening and tomorrow.

I was back out bow hunting the public ground day before yesterday in the morning and took a little video on my phone. I had 2 dink bucks come in and one bedded 18 yards from me while the other was making making rubs. Then the dink buck went to the bedded buck and started to spar with him while he was bedded. The bedded dink eventually got up and pushed harder back on the other buck and they then wandered off together. only seen one maybe shooter was hard to tell since I could only see his left side for a second in a green thicket . I also watched a lone doe go and bed down at 70 yards so I stayed until 2pm since I had a live doe decoy in the area hoping a buck would come and check the thicket the doe was bedded in, but alas I had to get down. Its gun season here and I dont gun hunt so Im on standby to help my husband if he gets one with his gun. Here is the video of the 2 dinks.

 

Looks like a great spot ! Hopefully that big boy will show up soon. We still need those points and plenty of time left so fingers crossed ! Good luck !
