I've been saying that for years- it's not that the 'climate' is getting warmer, it's the seasons have shifted back by about a month.

Growing up in MI and IN, I remember FREEZING MY ASS OFF during the first week of November. My dad coming home from Up North deer camp with snotscicles in his mustache. Now? We hardly even break 32*.

But back then, my birthday (late Feb) it would be mostly breaking free from winter. Rarely snow on the ground, and March was spring in full effect.

Now? I usually am still in my mid season gear deep into November, we might get some snow early but it's rarely truly cold. And February is easily the coldest, snowiest month.

tomorrow afternoon (Sat, so technically today) my deer season officially begins in MI.
I shot a few times this week, was kind of all over the place but I tinkered with my set up a bit, made some new arrows, and hit the range today and was lights out. Trashed a few vanes at 50 and 60. I just felt good, which was needed. Came home, re-fletched, and packed everything up to hit the road tomorrow.

I am on deercation from tomorrow through Nov 17. Hunting in at least 3 states (MI, WI, IN) and might make it to MO and/or OH. Depends on if I want to stay married or not.

I grew up in Michigan 18 years ago, so I always watch the temps, you do have it easier now. Enjoy your hunt I will follow in about a week.

Yup, I remember Halloween night always being cold when I was a kid. Now, I'm wearing light clothing all the way up to Thanksgiving. I shot my buck on Nov 11th last year just wearing a sweatshirt. Lol

Good luck everyone! Hope to be posting LFTS this evening. Waiting for some furniture to be delivered then hitting the road. Love that 'your delivery will be between 9a-2pm' window... :deadhorse:

I made out again to the public land this morning, seen 11 does & fawns & 3 small bucks. I ground hunted by another big oak raining acorns & had to pass on a bunch of does.

passed on 3 does last night for reasons on LFTS.

Was perusing the score sheet, if this big dog 10pt that Farmer Rick got only scored 146 then my number one target deer in WI (Big 9) is probably a little less.

we've got a big bodied perfect typical 10pt running around lately that'll prob score higher. Great buck but not as much character as the 9. Be happy for a chance at either one.

Looks like I will be in the stand in central 'Sconnie Friday evening. Going to be warm but a cold front and some light rain is moving thru overnight so hopefully they're on their feet that evening or the following day.

I think the 10 point we have on cam broke most of his G4 off. Either that or it's a different one.
