I'm convinced with these seasonal shifts that October is the new September. No "cold" weather until late December and January. Even deer patterns locally have seemed to shift about a month later. That being said, harvest is now a month earlier. I've never seen so much corn and soybeans harvested before Oct 1st.

Went out in the morning and saw nothing. I won't be back out til the cold front hits. I'll be out Thursday evening and Friday morning. Going to sit in my new stand site for the first time. Should be a good one!

On the last hunt in Texas now. Man, super hot. I’m going to sit till dark to see if they move late. They definitely have slowed down. Just small bucks and small does this morning. I will shoot a doe if one comes out this evening. We need some points and I can already taste a tag sandwich in my future if I don’t .

I missed a doe opening day at 46. Pretty sure i caught some grass with my range finder. Let some young does walk. Been slow today. Have a lil less than 2 hours oh light left sittin on a oak strip between swamp thicket and overgrown field.

Awesome job! Congrats! Now that first blood has been spilled, the deer will start falling. I fully anticipate to put something down when that cool weather rolls in here. I'll be heading back out Thursday evening and Friday morning in a new spot. 1000005358.jpg

No luck on the Texas hunt. I could have shot a very small doe right at dark but it would have felt like I was shooting a dog for 50 points.
Other than the small doe there was only a 4 point by the feeder and a yearling. The full moon had us. Deer activity was way low the past two days and they were very skittish. Now onward to Missouri where they actually look like deer. Yall be safe and shootem up !

I have PTO from October 23rd to October 29th. I work the 30th and 31. Then I'm off November 1st through November 9th. I plan on doing a lot of hunting and killing, painting the ground red kind of thing during that time frame. I'm really hoping the weather cooperates nicely!

I concur with the red on the ground in that timeframe guys ( and ladies ). I leave to hunt Missouri the 18th thru the 25th. It’s game on when my boots hit the ground there. The beans are calling their name so it’s just a matter of days before death becomes them.

Everyone always talks about the first week or 2 of November, I also think it's great. However, I've had way more luck and sightings that last week of October. I also think that last week you can't forget your rattling antlers. I've seen so much action from rattling that last week it's awesome!

Awesome, Congrats on your doe !
I had an awesome public land hunt from the ground in a deadfall in the woods at a tree dropping big ole acorns yesterday morning. I passed on 2 does and at roughly 8am I had 2 shooters come in and I watched the larger of the 2 work a licking branch and then the 2 bucks began to lightly spare at 42 yards. I watched them spare for around 3 minutes. While they spared I had no clear shot so I moved out one step to the side to get a clear shot when what I didn't know a doe & fawn had snuck up om my right side and the doe busted me and blew and then all the deer ran off :busted::bigcry:
