What traditional bows do you guys use? I have a Bear Grizzly @ 50 lbs. Target shooting only at this point. I'd love to tag anything with it from the ground.

Had a old timer that shot trad his whole life, give me a tip. If hunting from a stand, he aims for the white line on there belly. Which makes sense for me, because i always shot over there back.

I have only killed 5 does in 12 years of hunting. If we're close to the lead, I'll consider it...

For sure! Last year I swam my buck in the river (at night and in a rain storm) instead of trying to drag him up the hills.

So with 3 or 4 county parks to hunt around me, saddle setup looks like the best option to be able to go wherever I want. I am 6'2" 230 with a screwed up knee. Just how comfortable really is it? Like good for 3 or 4 hours or half day sits? Starting from scratch, seems like alot of money upfront. Saddle set, platform, sticks and whatever else that will help out. I can afford it, (actually just won $650 at poker table at Jack's casino in Cleveland last weekend) I want good quality stuff to hold my weight and gear. What do you all think? Worth the investment and what is all needed? I would definitely need to practice getting up and down a tree for awhile to get comfortable with it but something I would use full time next season if it is worth it.

I’ll be honest if your knee is really screwed up you’re going to struggle using sticks. As far as actually being in the tree it’s the only way I’ve ever pulled off an all day sit. But It’s going to depend on the saddle you have and it takes a minute to figure out comfort. I use a ring of steps with a small platform on top of my stick. I find myself straddling the tree like a motorcycle when the action is slow. And it’s crazy comfortable. Like hard to stay awake comfortable ha

Having my coffee and realise I’m way behind on my reading, I like where you heads at with the doe comment. I will be in the field Sunday.

I use an Obsession and a Mathews, Carbon Express arrows with various heads, no monster scissors though.

I'm going to have frost on the ground tomorrow. They aren't calling for it but it's going to get 35 degrees in town and I've had some crazy late frost days due to the terrain the last few years. Last year was June 12 which is very rare in my area. I really wish I could take advantage and get out there but we are still a week away and the opener is going to be low 80's. I guess it won't be bad weather to get the last few things done. Who am I kidding. There's always something else to do.

Almost shot a doe tonight. Had 2 walk by about 3 hours before dark. Came by at 30 yards. By time i decided to shoot, they worked to 35. I pulled back, but just didnt feel confident taking that far of a shot. I will wait for another under 20 next time.

I'm more confident in the odds that I'll tag a couple of doe than a decent buck this year. I've not seen much that I'm excited about at this point on my permission pieces. Plus, you can't leave anything overnight in MN on public lands (including trail cams) , so those hunts will all be hang-and-hunt and surprise deer.

Probably a good call. Early season I definitely like them under 20 for heat reasons. Pretty cool today here though. Would love to be in a tree ha. Better luck next time! Keep filling us in on hunt details so we can live through your stories while we all wait ha

So i made a mistake last night and didn't trust my gut. I know of a few really good bucks in an area. They are moving around a lot, but still sticking together. They popped out in the exact spot I was torn on going to. I talked myself into going to a new spot. When I came out in the dark, they were right there. The sky had enough light in it to see them with binos. All 3 are 140 and over. Ugh!!

I spent the morning on my friend's property he is letting me hunt. Only has a couple acres of woods along the edge of his field. Found 2 nice active scraps and acorns everywhere. Set up a stand and a camera by one of the scrapes. Got this Pic last night at 8:30. Attached is his property lines where I have to hunt. White dot is my stand location.
