Haha! Im have a few. All of them are Aerohunters. Unfortunately they closed up shop a year or 2 ago. The owner retired. But if i was going to buy one tomorrow, it would be the Latitude Maverick or Lonestar. Or the Cruzr XC saddle. I have tried both brands, and are great saddles. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I mostly hunt from pop up blinds because I have the 9 or 6 year old with me. It handcuffs me quite a bit, but I love every second of it.
Tethrd lockdown, hawk helium cut down to 15 inches with a small platform on top, and a ring of steps with three steps. I carry 35 feet of rope, climb up every hunt, and rappel back down. Usually pretty easy for me but sometimes you just get in one of those trees that whoops ya ha Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Very similar thing going on at my place. 11 and 9 year old sitting in the blind with me. Snacks galore. Probably too much movement and noise but it's worth it.
Lots of deer moving into fall “territory” right now and getting focused on acorns too. Had another buck I’ve been waiting for show up this morning. He was all over the new farm last year from Sept to end of season but no pics this summer. He’s no giant but I’d be thrilled to shoot him or have my kid shoot him. We saw him several times last year but didn’t really focus on him, and my kids found his shed on our annual shed hunt last spring. He should be a 5 y/o this year. Pic from this morn: Pic from last season:
New stand location. Two old logging roads cross a stream and come together just behind me. 10-30yd shots on the first trail. 20-25yd shots on the second. Came out to check on the stand and make sure everything was good for the October 1 VT opener. I'll be in a NJ tree on September 14 and hopefully get a Doe on the board that weekend.
I’ll also be on a doe mission opening weekend. 24 more days here! I’ll be going tomorrow to spread seed for a winter plot. Had to wait for the farmer to bushhog the fields. Idk if my plan is gonna work but I’m gonna try it anyway. Been shooting my bow a lot! Shooting really good so confidence is high for sure.. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I pulled my cards on 2 cameras. Nothing worth chasing yet. 1 camera had maybe 10 different bucks, but all smaller then what im looking for. The other camera didn't have a single buck in over a month. The top pic is the average size of what is showing up. The bottom pic is the only mature buck on camera. But he is a funky rack with 3 pts on one side and a spike on the other. Thinking old buck on the down hill? Dont know. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I'm from Ashland/Mansfield area. My daughter goes to UC. She's a junior this year. Been hiking in some of the parks down there with her. Some hilly places there. Would not want to drag a deer out from any of those parks.
So i know this gets asked on every team thread, but it can be important. What is everyone's situation with Doe's? Everyone feel good that they will be able to take one this season? Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Hope to contribute more this year than back then. You know you try to do "the right thing" and wait for a mature animal and let the younger ones grow. So then the next year you hope to see more mature deer. So I ate tag soup in years passed hoping the next year will be better, then all of a sudden the properties sell and you don't have a place to hunt. I don't think I am going to be to picky this year and just get some meat in the freezer. We will see with this new place I got permission for.
Hey i get it, i went thru that. The last couple years i just shot deer and had a blast. Had some of my best years in awhile. Some times its just plain fun to just hunt deer, and not constantly look for that just the big one. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Nothings a guarantee, but I can guarantee a doe will die lol preferably 5… Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Also, goofy there is a thick boy. Definitely looks like an old beat down warrior. Some of my best years I didn’t think I had bucks to hunt. Would pull out the trad bow. Usually giants show up then in hahahahah Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I went with this method about 5 years ago and have been having a blast and really enjoying hunting more than ever. After years of watching them it feels good when you’re able to get some down. Good luck bud! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I shoot a longbow once and awhile. There is definitely truth in that bucks seem to show up when i have that thing in my hand. Im not proud of this, but I've missed 7 out of the last 8 deer i shot at with it. All under 13 yards. Finally killed a spike just to get my first kill. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I grew up on venison. Does are made out of venison, right? I won't shoot one on my property as the deer population is super low right now due to my favorite wild dog (yes, you will hear me talk about wolves a lot). However, the other areas are hunt are full of deer and need a doe or four taken out. I will attempt to oblige mother nature. Edit: those other areas are private. The public land I hunt is wolf country too and a very limited amount of doe tags are granted each year.
Dude! I’d be proud haha like 6 years ago I went full trad for the first two months of the season. Idk how many times I emptied my quiver and missed 2 giants. Could shoot amazing groups at a target but just couldn’t get the iron mind to get it done on a live animal. Decided I just wasn’t ethical using it and went back to a compound ha. Still break it out on doe hunt every now and again but I’ve yet to seal the deal. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
