I put some golden acorns out at my urban spot to see who was still around. The tempting 8 came back but the 12 is still MIA. I haven't seen him since 10/21. And right on cue...the 8 is posing again.
The neighbor is clearing the giant beech tree that fell and crushed my ladder stand. It's looking like a pretty sweet food plot for next year! Probably 20 yards x 30 yards. Here's the view from my stand...
i’m not done hunting, little plot can go along way this time of year. headed to TX for a week then i’m back in the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well I didn’t get a buck with a muzzleloader! Lol did get another doe for the freezer. Tagged out in my county. So I’ll be off hunting public land the rest of the year for any decent buck with a bow!
We have temps that are going to nose dive here in the next 24 hours. I only have a buck tag until tomorrow night. I may try to sneak out for one last sit with the bow before I only have a doe tag in my pocket. Cold and windy could have them hitting the field a little earlier............or have them hunkered down. I guess I'm willing to try and find out.
We went out both mornings this weekend and only saw 1 doe who was throwing a giant tantrum at 70 yards. Cameras have been dead too since gun week.
VT seasons are over today. I'll be doing some NJ hunting the end of this month and a couple times next month. Good luck everyone!
I got out last night for the first time in a 2 1/2 weeks. Dang sickness got me bad. But better now. I only saw 4 or 5 fawns, not a single mature deer of any kind. Will be out sometime this week again.
I feel you on the sickness. Been a rought 1-2 weeks around here as well. I got out that last day for me to tag another buck. It was super cold and windy and it had the deer moving. 6 different bucks. None in range and no shooters. I still have doe tags in my pocket but the next few weekends are shot due to christmas obligations. Not that it would help our score anyway.
My urban 12 never came back after the rut. He usually lives in front of my camera all winter. And all my suburban buck movement is at night. I'll get out a few more times after a doe...
