Boys are staying with their mom after I take them trick or treating tomorrow! That means I’m heading to the woods Friday morning for this front ha. Have to work Friday night but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make lol

I just need to keep telling myself that it's a long season. I've sat 6 times this year and have only seen 5 deer. A stark difference year over year. I need to make a change, but I've got zero intelligence to go off of that's recent. I'm not seeing the deer i usually do while driving around. I guess it's time to start scouting in to good sign on public ground and hunt like I did back in high school before the advent of trail cams and the technological advances we've seen in the last 20 years.

This time of year I just get downwind of some doe bedding and let it ride. I see scrapes and walk right past them lol just keep that in mind. If you have clearcuts those are my favorite to sit 40 yards or so downwind from. I thought it was game on this morning. Right after daylight I had an absolute giant doe come in and bed down at ten yards. Two more followed shortly after. Thought for sure a buck would come check them at some point. After a couple hours they got nervous and started trotting off after clearly smelling something. Thinking it might be a buck coming I look upwind and see the biggest yote I’ve ever seen in my life. Tried to lip squeak him back but he’s already been through that before clearly ha kept going. Sat for another hour and had to get down..work for the next week. Be back in Friday afternoon. After that it’s gonna be all day sits for at least 3 days in a row. It’s our time to shine fellas! Don’t forget if you do get something to take TWO pictures with your bow!

We're back home after a fun morning hunt. We bumped a nice 3 year old off the scrape coming in and then saw 6 does (probably the same 3 twice). I'll be back here Monday morning...

Good luck man! I also am gonna get to go Monday morning now. Kids mom asked for them back Sunday night too. Almost like she’s letting me hunt. Which is ironic because she never did when we were married hahahah

    Keep hunting guys!

I missed another doe last night. Thats 3 deer in a row that i have lost. Im having one of those seasons. Been spending alot of time working on my shots today and nothing is showing up for reason of all this. 2 deer ducted at shot, but at 15 yards or less, i shouldn't be shooting high. Think i have some form of target panic going on, or just a bad streak of unfortunate events. Just going to keep working on my patience and try and slow down my shot process.

I haven't even been seeing anything to shoot at. I'm not sure which problem is more frustrating. However, I certainly know what it's like to miss shots. I've missed 2 turkeys and back-strapped a deer in 2024. I'm off to a GREAT start.

The best buck I saw this weekend was a tall 8 with short brow tines. I drew on him just to let the deer gods know I saved one. He's local and stuck around during the rut. It will be the second time I let him live. I hope he survives the orange army in a few weeks. I saw a ton of does and fawn and it seems that every stand I sit I pull a cam card to see they were there yesterday. Stick to your plans guys and hope it works out!

LFTS? I saw a decent deer this morning. Probably 130” 9 point. He just didn’t get my blood going lol ended up taking out my phone and videoing him. So ready for Friday though!
