So how long will a buck stay bedded mid-day?

For those not in LFTS, I didn't see squat today during the hunt, but had the young 8 point bedded 15 yards away when I climbed out of the blind. I have ZERO idea how he could have snuck in there.

I just saw that, crazy how sneaky they are. Is that the one you need to show restraint from shooting? He looked like a decent buck.

Clearly he wasn't phased by our encounter! This is 12 yards from the blind.

Took my little guy out for our first sit of the year last night and he got it done!

    IMG_9651.jpeg

This week is crazy with work and family stuff and I am out of town next week for work. Looks like I won’t be able to get back after it until the weekend of the 19th. The good news is that big deer I had on camera is still hanging around, once they move off acorns I have a feeling I should start pulling him in on my side more consistently. I plan on getting after it pretty hard the last couple weeks of October, and quite a bit in November as well.

Hope you guys are all enjoy the season so far, good luck to everyone!

    Congrats man! He’s a dandy!
We are killin’ it! Let’s keep the ball rolling! October cold fronts get wild around here and I can’t wait to get back in the woods. Came down with a sickness but hoping it lets up In a couple days..

@Holt glad you found your buck. Was he far from your initial search for him or was he found nowhere near where you thought he would be?
My plan is to be out next Monday and maybe Wednesday after work. This will be my first sit. Temps dropping to highs in the 50's low in the 30's for my area here in Ohio. Still not much activity on the camera.

I didn't have any luck finding a buck this weekend. I did find two areas that are loaded with deer. I lost count of the amount of does I saw last night. I was on the ground and many were within 10 yards of me. Good cover and good wind can do you wonders. I drew back on two just to see if I could and they had no clue I was there. It was awesome. I just kept waiting for a good buck to come out. Not even a spike showed his face.

Yes, he stayed on the public. He actually died in the bed that came out of the night i shot him. Not the first time I've had them go back and die in their bed. I walked right there at least 4 times over the first week. I stayed out for the fear that he was still alive and didn't want to push him more. He snuck right back in after i left and died there. I shot him on a monday, then the last time i walked, it was on Saturday. So, 5 days later and he wasn't there. I walked it Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Only jumped him one time on Tuesday at 1:00 in the afternoon.

He was right were i thought he would be. Was just waiting for him to die. About 150 yards from were i shot him. First time i jumped him, he was over 400 yards away. He circled back to his bed at some point. My guess is he lived for a week, then pasted. So was laying there for 2 weeks.

They seem to always want to go back to bed or water. Glad you found him. Did you go out looking again for him? I would have liked to see your face when you spotted him.
