We have three cameras on acorns, two on scrapes, and one on the field edge also on acorns I guess ha. I was trying to locate them but not having any luck. I’m sure they’ll turn up but we are at the highest rated drought In my area also. South eastern Ohio.

Yes, Ohio very dry right now. Tons of acorns down in the woods I'm hunting. Seems to be mostly does around my area. Only had 3 bucks on camera. 2 small spikes and the 10pt. Not many places for me to move my camera around. Next spot will be field edge somewhere.

What's everyone's plans this weekend? We finally will get a wind switch from the last two weeks of S, SW direction and that opens up the door to many possibilities for me. I don't have anything tied up so I may do some exploring on the public land.

Im still licking my wounds. I want to get back out looking for that buck, but just haven't had the time, already taking to much from work and family. I might get out mid day tomorrow to look again. Not sure when i will get back to hunting. Maybe this coming week.

Unfortunately they hate public land hunters. Also they fight with each other over deer, seen it in person. The largest property he could be on, the guy goes out of his way to piss off other hunters. If someone finds that buck, i will never see it again.

Alright guys, time to keep this thread positive and keep on the roll we have. Who's up next? Anyone season start this weekend?

I will try and get out Saturday. I may walk for a couple hours, then move to another property and hunt the last few hours.

Next weekend for me. Work this weekend..sorry for the negativity that is my life hahahah. Super pumped to get out next weekend though. Taking my stepson to try to get his first deer in the mornings and in the evenings I’m going to the farm. Unfortunately I can’t bring him on that property. But been checking a lot of white oaks and have a good idea where to set him up. Love the brown it’s down hunts ha

I'm headed out tomorrow morning by myself. I'll be headed back to the location i sat last Saturday. Hopefully, it's a morning route; that whole field edge is littered with sign. Then Sunday evening with my 5 year old. This is going to be my first hunt with one of my girls. Of course, it's the younger one who wants to go. Cora is way more adventurous than Hannah. We'll see how it goes. Either way, it's going to be great finally getting one of my kids in the woods with me.

Full moons hunt mid day, but I hate them. I like half moons and hunt afternoons for big buck movement.

My Bucks always disappear when the go hard horned. Also when beech nuts start falling here in VT or acorns in NJ. My VT homestead is best during late November or early December after the nuts are gone. That's when they hit my property.

Be back in a NJ tree next Thursday afternoon for a 4 day stint.. I'll be hunting the county park over acorns in the mornings, ground hunting by a brook and acorns/standing corn in the afternoons.

Decided to do one more hike to look for that buck. Nothing again. I grid searched all the heavy bedding spots and walked down wind of most of the areas I thought he could be. If he was dead in there, i would smell him. Plus looked for birds. Huge population of Bald eagles and vultures. Usually they will get on a kill within hours. Pretty confident he's either not on the property, or still alive.

Forgot to say i cut a very large buck track yesterday. It was skirting around the edge of a swamp that im very familiar with. Lets see if i can locate this buck and see what he is.
