The only deer I saw was the one I bumped about 75 yards from the parking area on the first spot I tried. I planned on scouting into an oak flat that produced a good crop last year (on a public chunk), but nothing looked good, and there was little sign of activity so I backed out and went to the spot of the previous post. There, I got skunked. It was not the opening day of my dreams, but it was good to be back in the saddle. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I've never shot one in 90 degree heat before.........until tonight! Doe on the board and in the walk in cooler. She didn't even know what hit her. Took two hops, tipped over and was done in 10 seconds. 33 yards shot at 6:48 and in the cooler by 8:00!
YES! Congrats bud! I can’t wait to get to contribute. These early doe are what we need! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well, your going to make me get off the golf course and in the stand, had a buck walk by the front door last night, ok I did think about it. Great job keeping us in the game. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
I’m literally dying to get in a stand and you’re out hitting balls with a stick……hahaha at least you could be in the shade in the woods! Get out there and knock us another 50 points down! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm not going to lie. It was brutal out there the last two evenings. Absolutely zero breeze. It said 10-15 mph on my phone but I didn't feel a dang thing. I was sitting in a creek bottom and there is a wash out across the creek where she was standing wide open. I wanted her to get closer but she was just slightly quartering away and kept looking 180 degrees away from me. I asked myself " if you don't take that shot then what the hell are you doing out here". Solo drag was only 200 yards but through some old logging tops and plenty of head high burning nettle. In hindsight I should have taken then 450 yard drag up hill on a trail. I have absolutely zero shooter buck prospects but it's early yet. Can't wait to get back out this weekend.
All this killing lit a fire under me. Im out on stand and the buck sign looks great! Lets keep this ball rolling! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
My wife said she was glad I got one because a doe walked right up to our porch while I was out. I had a 12 pointer about 5 paces from the corner of my garage a few years ago. This was in season and all would have been legal. Very tempting. Plus, the dang thing ended up getting hit by a car the next summer. Would have looked better on my wall versus the ditch.
Yeah the fact we have points in the board has me itching to stack up another 50. Or 150 hahaha we are definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well guys i have good and bad news. I shot a good buck tonight. The bad is, I believe i got a complete gut shot. No arrow and no blood to be found. Im going back out in the morning to recover, if i can find him. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Terrible feeling but happens to the best of us. Good luck bud! Hope you’re able to recover! Gut shot buck is a dead buck. It’s been cool at night here hopefully it is there and you’re able to seal the deal! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thank you It's pretty warm here. But there's nothing i can do right now. Just have to let him sit and pass. Such a bad feeling. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
