Never hung cameras or formally scouted it but I've walked the property quite a few times but not since they acquired 280 acres recently. So much of it is unknown to me. Gonna try and head up there soon though

Wow that sounds like it could be real good! A chunk of property that big that hasn’t been hunted in that long ought to have a few good deer hanging around for sure. Good luck on that piece.

That sounds pretty sweet. Nice to have a big chunk of private land to hunt.

Planning on tomorrow night hopefully to sit last light. Checked cams again. Things settled some and had little 8 from earlier come through and medium 8. From this past week til tomorrow temps drop over 10 degrees so hoping that might start the visits up earlier. Will be fishing earlier so hoping to be back to sneak out in time but we’ll see. If I don’t make it They can relax a little more and hopefully come out more again.
Also started a project. Got an old freezer and set up and gonna try some beetles. Been wanting to try and always like doing stuff myself. Hopefully works out. Think it came pretty decent and should have beetles this next week and few buddies have some skulls to start with. Well see how it goes from there. Cheap to get started so worst case it’s another of my failed projects it’ll be one of my cheaper ones. If works it should be fun to mess with

Good luck out there. Be nice to see a buck down. Rain cut off here too and if hadn’t lost track of time woulda ran out for last light. Hopefully tomorrow.

It's still too warm for me to hit the woods. It's supposed to be around 90F tomorrow and Monday. That kind of heat ain't any good for anything! The trend seems to be warm for a stretch.

Had an amazing weekend-not hunting related- Got invited down to the georgia, notre dame game with one of the best tailgates. It was my first SEC football experience and was totally insane, so much fun. All hunting from here on out!

I swear I'm getting taunted by bucks during earn a buck. Had 4 antlers deer pass under me on this sit at 13 yards, including a nice 7 point. Little less than an hour of light left so theres still hope. Hunting a trail intersection right off the edge of a little secluded field coming up from a creek bottom.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thanks! This is my second season trad only. Really exciting and fulfilling. Had a nice mature doe come out at 1907, stood broadside at 19 yards. Settled myself, got to anchor and released a perfect shot only to have her duck my arrow. I'll be back at it Thursday.

Good luck out there and hope you get a shot at one you want. I think the recurve is awesome. I’m hoping to get back to mine but won’t til I give it the effort and dedication it needs. I was solid one year and set and passed on a 5 pt expecting a 8 that had been coming only to have it be a grouse making noise. I think a traditional kill would be about the most rewarding as it gets. Hopefully works out for you and next year to get back to mine to add in

Thanks man! I'm hopeful this season goes as well as last one. My first trad deer dropped in sight. Followed it up with a coyote, a bunch of small game and a turkey in the spring. Feeling very confident with it even when I miss lol. That's the price you pay when you launch a telephone paul slower than a flea fart haha. It's a great experience and once you commit it's super addicting and I have no desire to go back

That’s awesome and a solid start. It is extremely addicting. And rewarding cause you know you really earned it. I shot the R100 once with it. Was a challenge with lots of shots with my buddies with their compounds. They never heard the end of me outshooting a few. And like you say it’s a whole different feeling even on misses. I love it and want to get back for sure. I’m hoping some stuff in life settles and that time gets shifted at least some to that again. Just thinking about it again gets me motivated already

October 5 is coming up! VT opener is calling for 31 and snow showers!!!! Warming up to 50 and then the same on Sunday. That's a 15 degree temperature drop from Thursday. Looking good.

Sounds like conditions for some action. Good luck out there. Some ongoing issues kept me out of the stand last few nights when I wanted to go... think that might wrap up today. Pending when might get out tonight or Friday. Same kinda conditions, almost same drop for tonight then up again and down Friday. Lowest lows we’ve had so should stir things up.

Definitely. I was pretty obsessed when I was on and I’ve got two recurves and two long bows. Got arrows made that tuned perfect for each. Always a time issue. Hopefully get a season like last and wrap up my hunting early and time to get out and shoot again. Fingers crossed
