Didn't even see a deer yesterday, but I did stick a hog. Headed back out in the rain this morning to see what I can do.
Temps back up in the 70s with high in the 80s today. Windy and cloudy but I took the day off to hunt so I'm out here waiting for daylight.
Bucks are really starting to show up on my place. Here's Dozer, back at the community scrape. He was there 4 nights last week. Not much daylight from him right now though.
Here's another really unique buck. He's busted his main beam clean off at his G3, but would still be pretty tough to pass.
This guy walked in front of my stand last Saturday morning. I don't have any previous encounters or pictures with this buck. I think it was a good thing for him I was in St. Louis watching my daughter play softball, because there was 100% chance I would have been in that exact stand that morning.
It was very cold...... It was about 35-40 degrees the whole time with about 15 mile an hour winds. So pretty tough conditions, but the team played pretty well against some tough competition. It was a college exposure type tournament, so just games. There were lots of college coaches watching the games and for the most part my daughter pitched really well. They brought her in with bases loaded and 1 out. There were 2 colleges watching our game at the time. Reagan was able to get out of that without allowing a run by getting a comebacker to her and a strike out. It was nice seeing the coaches smile and kinda nod with some respect after that. She's only 14, but playing on a 16U team, so she's facing girls that are more developed in every way but she holds her own and more against them most of the time.
Good to hear she's playing up is she can hold her own. Last Spring my son (7 yo) played on a 8U team in a 9U league. He was voted to the All-Star team so that was pretty special. He's already decided that he want's to play baseball with his Soccer team friends next season so he'll be with kids his own age for the first time. I'm afraid he'll get board but we'll see. My wife and I have agreed to leave it up to him. There is always fall ball if we feel he needs to play up. -D
Warm day today back in the mid 60s, thunderstorms are coming through this afternoon and temperatures are then supposed to drop to the 30s. I'll be heading out to the stand around noon, and then again tomorrow afternoon
I'm going to move into the thick of things and get more aggressive with my stand locations starting this evening. Its time to move in and try to get a big one down. They are starting to move pretty well here. Good luck to everyone this weekend.
Watched this one chasing at 1115 on Thursday with no chance for a shot. Taking 4 days off again next week.
Saw nothing Friday and Saturday. I’m making sausage today from the deer I harvested last weekend. Anyone have any favorite recipes? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
