I'm in the stand now, it's a little warm but the next 2 or 3 days are wrecked with heavy rain and high winds.

Have fun!! I am looking forward to hitting the stand this weekend here in Kansas. I am headed out tonight and they are calling for temps in the 30s tomorrow morning so the deer should be on their feet.

    Well I missed one tonight.
A real wide rack , missed judge the yardage
Shooting out of a ground blind. Swore it was 30 yards turned out to be twenty on a down hill slide. Missed clean over his back so at least it was a complete miss.
Don't know how I feel about that so called shoot through mesh.

Shoot through mesh is a myth in my experience.

Well guys, I killed a doe tonight. Not a huge doe, but she weighed 120 lbs dressed, so not too bad either. Ill get the pics up sometime this weekend. She came in at 7:05 pm, eating acorns the whole way in. Somewhere around 7:15 she turned broadside, so I took the shot at roughly 20 yards. The shot sucked, I'm definitely not proud of it. I hit her in the spine (she rolled and broke my arrow), so I shot her again to end it (this arrow hit a rock and broke). So basically this doe has already cost me $40 in just arrows and broadheads. I don't know whether I pulled the shot, or hit my sight on the way up the tree (forgot a pullup rope), or didn't factor in the height of my stand (between 27' and 30' via rangefinder). Either way, 50 points for us! :tu:

Good job on the doe and I feel your pain on the arrow. Lost my arrow and broad head the night I shot my doe. It's 120 miles one way to the farm so I haven't gone back to look for it yet.

Nice job on the doe! With the mesh window experience, I know I've never tried to shoot through it and probably won't just seems like too many things could go wrong.

I asked all my neighbors if htey have seen anything and they said no. I got one shady MF'er that didnt answer. GOign back there later today with the cops to see if he answers for them.

Congrats on the doe Cole. I am finally out for the first time. I am at my lease in SE MN. We can only shoot one deer here so it will have to be a good one.

Congrats on the doe! It seems the deer here in Kansas do not like me. I have been in the tree probably eleven times and have seen three deer on the hoof and those where all on the first night. It is getting frustrating.

I had a 150" 9 pointer broadside at 37 yards but couldn't tell exactly how big he was until he moved.

Had a small button buck under me last night, half hour later near dark a 8 pointer came up, maybe 110 inch at most so i passed. Still a little early. Hit a doe at 44 yards this morning, had to thread it like a needle, thought I missed. I'll post pictures as soon as the wife sends me them! I need to change the avatar once i get my pictures shortly!! Good luck guys

Went out again this evening, but didn't see anything until 5 minutes after shooting light ended. 4 does came in and fed on acorns all around me. When they finally left, this buck came in:

He stuck around FOREVER. I finally got out of my stand at 9:45 tonight, as I didn't want to spook him away from that spot. I'm still not quite sure I want to shoot this buck, I have been on the fence about it for over a month now. I think I need to see him in broad daylight to make that call.

I did manage to pick up another 270 acres yesterday. Went out and scouted it today between hunts, and it looks awesome. Its 45 minutes from my house, but it looks well worth the drive so far. If it rains I won't be able to get out there though, I had to use 4x4 in my lifted truck and the road wasn't even wet. I'm going out there after class tomorrow to put out some cameras. Hopefully I have something big on them by the time I hang a stand and hunt Friday afternoon :tu:

Great job on the does and pics so far guys. There are a few people who are not entering their deer correctly from other teams and they will not get points. So remember to get two different pictures with your deer, you and your bow in the picture to make sure you don't lose out on any pictures.
