my father in law has one. ive shot it but never hunted with it. in Missouri where his property is it is considered archery equipment so we hunt together a lot so i couldnt just decide to borrow it for a hunt
couple things, how long do we wait for ultisportsman before calling for an alternate? pros of waiting is we give the guy a chance to participate cons if we wait too long an absent person on team is just someone who wont contribute points... also if you "watch" the thread you get notifications when someone comments. segway to hunting whats everyones plans? we got any early season guys here? travel hunters? id expect a week off of solid hunting end of oct beginning of November. I hunt exactly 105 miles from my driveway, we have a small cabin we stay at while hunting. i will try a sit or two early season but i really dont like warm weather hunting the land, north and south of us is timber lots and lots to the north, east and west is all tillable, mostly beans this year, east a bit is nodaway river. currently have 8! cams running right now (2 new as of this weekend), 5 stands, and 1 elevated enclosed blind.
I'd give him until Sept 1st and if he doesn't check in by then he's out. Depending on where people live, that's the start of some seasons... As far as hunting goes, it should be an interesting year for me. My wife is pregnant with our second kid and the baby will be here November 15th at the latest. On the bright side, I'll be off work from mid-November through the end of the year. On the down side, I don't want to push my luck too much with being gone hunting. I enjoy pheasant hunting quite a bit too and have two bird dogs, one of which might be in his last hunting season. I'm hoping for a decent balance of pheasant and deer without upsetting the wife too much lol. Luckily I only hunt about 20 minutes from the house. Sent from my LG-H931 using Tapatalk
got lucky with my 3 kids, December, January, and july, no hunting season babies I wish i had access to land for pheasant, pheasant is so dang tasty
September 1st sounds good. I’m in the process of buying my first home which sits on 56 acres. I doubt I’ll be able to get in and really scout/hunt it by the time I close on everything. I will primarily be hunting my family farm that’s 10 miles away and early season (September 15) in ct 15 miles away. Also going on my first paid hunting trip this year so I’m excited for that as well. Any idea on a team name?
Not so lucky here...haha...daughter in October, and wife and other daughter with birthdays in November!!
blood runner, regarding name we havent had a very structured conversation on that, ive seen names that revolve around 12, dozen etc then names that don't, 40 yard prayer someone had a list of 3 or 4 but id have to go back and find them. we dont know how many people we'll end up with on the team as we might get a couple alternates
reconsidering my broadhead choice for the season. the last couple seasons I used some rage extremes, couple seasons before that used Magnus heads. i was planning on going back to the magnus but now thinking of sticking with the rages. they all shoot well for me, guess im over thinking with anticipation for the season
Magnus snuffer ss were the first broad heads I ever used, always liked them. Ive used blood runners for the last 6 years and this year I made the switch to ramcats. Couldn't deal with my quiver sounding like a tambourine anymore.
I love the logo...bloodrunner! I've used Montecs for the last several seasons with good success... Just not a lot of blood to trail. I decided to try the Killzone's out this year. Although if I keep hearing more and more people talk about Ramcats, I may have to give those a try! Guy at the bow shop tonight was recommending them.
Heading to IL today to check camera's and finish up some stand work. Hope to show you guys some good pics when I get back. Fingers crossed
I’m using rage hypodermics, had good success with them a couple years ago, but the ramcats are good broad heads, helped me bring down a buck a few years ago when the arrow didn’t pass through. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
last year was using rage chisel tip extremes, hit a touch high on left side of body, arrow came out on opposite armpit hit right side front leg and broke arrow off. Head did what it was supposed to, but something in me keeps saying a Magnus in same shot would have shortened the recovery by probably breaking that leg
admin messaged me to see if ultisportsman had checked in, i confirmed he has not. admin responded by saying ultisportsman is out. we should get an alternate or 2 or 3 this week or next
I had an amazingly short and wide blood trail to follow last year using the Wasp Jak-hammer. Will be using either their Drone or Sharpshooter this year because I dropped my draw weight down to 55 lbs. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
