All I saw this morning was squirrels and raccoons. I just got back in the stand, and a Dow walked underneath me while I was hoisting my bow up. Bad luck so far today!
I took a first time hunter out this morning to fill his youth antelope tags. He and I spent a lot of time practicing at the range. He made a brilliant 350 yard shot dropping this Colorado pronghorn in his tracks. I was so proud of Noah! He poured the dedication in and it paid off. We are moving him into bow hunting. This was an excellent first step. The smile on his face suggests he is hooked!
Alrighty, forgot to update my last two hunts. Wednesday night was great, saw a really good buck, but he wouldn’t get in range, then a momma and a fawn. Good evening, no regrets. Friday afternoon: what a mess. Started out finding some persimmon trees I’ve somehow walked past for years, climbed a tree nearby to catch that buck from the other night.Too much foliage, so I got down and just made a blind out of pickers and thick stuff. I was hidden well…until stupid moron spoke buck decide to check the same dang crap I was in..he finally sees two eyes looking at him and bolts making all the noises. Behind me, I hear another deer take off, so I’m a little annoyed but it’s my fault. I knew it was too hot and I was too sweaty to ground hunt, I could smell me. Oh well, taking a few days off and will get back at it.
Update boys... Shot one this weekend! Going to have to get it back from processor before I get it scored and entered
