Carp, I had a good old timer up hunting this weekend. He finally landed a deer (see picture). On Sunday, he lagged behind to take care of business. He still had an elk and bear tag in his pocket. I moved forward about 30 yards . Naturally, while he had his pants around his ankles, a bull walked out 30 yards in front of me. I held perfectly still and prayed for a quick dump as well as the presence of mind to see the elk when the job was done. Neither happened.
Congrats on the points for guys! Sorry I’ve been ghosting. I’m usually very active. Life has never been busier for me. About to calm down though (I hope). Got big nasty hard horned. It’s my buddies FIL property that where would have a shot at him. These bucks usually are gone by time velvet comes off then new batch of different bucks move in never seen before. Sure would like to see this guy in back of truck though. If it’s not gonna be me to get him I hope my buddies son gets him.
Opening day is tomorrow!! I think I'm gonna take the 4 wheeler to the farm and do a quick scout this afternoon, temps are rising and looks like the rain is not coming anymore, so tomorrows hunt is in the air.
Knocked out “chores” I was going to do tomorrow so I didn’t worry about my time. Damn if I didn’t tweak my back and left hip, hurts like a mother, hopefully it’ll work itself out by tomorrow. Plan was to hunt afternoon, but the temps are gonna be 80+, if I randomly wake up around 3am, I’ll probably do an easy morning hunt.
Good luck tomorrow. I’m going out tomorrow with my granddaughter and grandson for the muzzleloader hunt. My son will be there too. I’m just tagging along for moral support
I’m in a tree, way too early but I had nothing else to do and sitting on the couch being lazy and went in the plan. So I’ll sit in a tree and be lazy. Setup in a field corner, creek crossing, woods, field, big crossing path from the creek, it was the “coolest” place on the property so I figured this would be a fair trade off rather than baking up in the top woods.
Deer not open yet here, so shot some geese instead. And picked up another band! Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
We're back in the 90s this week, wife's birthday is this weekend as well, so woods time is cut short. But it's hot and this is usually the time I burn myself out every season. So, I'm taking it real slow and going to pick and choose when to go stink out the hunting spots.
I'll be filming Todd on the opener (tomorrow) + thursday, should get a sit or two in myself this weekend but I'm pretty busy. Following weekend is youth weekend where I'll try to get the landowners son a deer, and then I'm ready to rock and roll!
Been working my tail off. Managed to get a few plots scratched in on some private ground by my house. Will be going into all my public spots with last springs intel. No cameras but I guess that makes it a little more exciting. I know there are some hogs where I will be hunting. Good luck to all who are getting out already. As for me I will wait for the heat to subside. Never been the same after a heatstroke some years back. At least I have the perfect job for that. I’m always accustomed to fall weather
Wife is using her birthday massage gift today, son is going to in laws…i can either go play some disc golf or go sweat in the afternoon woods. Tough life living this way.
