Got permission from the landowner to bring a friend out to hunt tomorrow afternoon. Super pumped to hopefully get him on a deer!
Beautiful morning in the stand, surrounded by cackling pheasants, even if I haven't seen a deer. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
We just got beat out of third place. When Franson has his buck scored, we should go up in the rankings
Just got the call from the processor today. Picking him up tomorrow so should be in the scorecard by tomorrow eve.
One of my favorite things in life, especially while in stand, is listening to hear what animal, bird, etc. will break the night's silence. A pheasant would be awesome! I am heading out tomorrow to help another first-time hunter land his rifle pronghorn. Asher is 12 Y/O. I pray success photos are pending... Congrats, Dizzy! Keep pouring it on, Team Spi11! Good luck in the morning! We so got this!
Another young hunter successfully introduced to hunting. Asher nailed his Colorado Pronghorn with a single shot
Weekend update: hunted the morning, two small bucks and random squatter in his pajamas. Took family to pumpkin patch then went for the evening hunt. Nothing eventful, doe and small fork buck. Been strangely slow here so far. I think I’m gonna take a few days off and reset. I did a very quick scout to hunt this evening, found some new sign, good trees with cover. Some big trees fell in some storms and knocked some good shooting lanes. Made a really tight area a much better spot to hunt in. Tree I hunted out off this evening I think is gonna be real good for the rut. Overall, good day, really want to put some points up soon!
This Sunday morning finds me packing for Ohio. I land in Cincinnati at 11:20pm next Friday night. The following Saturday, I officially begin my 2025 deer season. I cannot wait! Thinking of everyone today, and I wish you all the best of luck! Spi11 Blood!
Took the landowner's son out for the youth hunt this weekend. Couldn't hunt mornings, they were combining the fields both days early + the young man had church Sunday. Saturday night, we saw 16 does and 1 funky buck who I'm pretty family with. Last night, saw nothing while in the stand, but saw about 10-20 deer in the main field walking out, many within 20 yards of the farm equipment. (nothing was in xbow range)
Heading out tomorrow afternoon, not sure if I want to try a new tree/spot, or try my new favorite spot again. I really feel I need to get deeper into the woods, my only hang up about that is the excessive sweat from the afternoon warmth. I'm reducing my early season hunts, in the past few years I've burned out by the time November shows up. So, this year, I'm spreading out my days so I can't hunt better days later in the season with less pressure. The deer sightings are still present, however, I'm not seeing as many as usual. Perhaps it was the ridiculous summer heat mixed with the drought we've been having. It only takes a single moment to change a hunt or season, making the best of each one of my hunts. See you fellas in the woods tomorrow afternoon! Well, wife just said her and my son have afternoon activities, I may sneak out this evening.
