I saw him post something on the main forums......he is overwhelmed our thread exploded and doesn't want to come back in.... :d
He's on my team "over there" too....and he posted on that thread. I guess we now know where we rank over here.
You boys need something to keep you occupied. I'm back. Really haven't posted much, been checking in ever now and then. Colorado was a bust and I've had some issues with uploading my pics, so hopefully I'll get something up. Had a great time, nothing killed, but a great adventure. Getting home was another trick. First flight cancelled due to the hurricane, almost lost a rental truck off a 40 ft cliff in the pouring rain, missed my second flight home due to being stuck on the mountain and to top it off, after 24 hours of trying to leave Co, I left a 8" hunting knife in my pack as I walked thru security in Denver, so now I'm blacklisted by TSA. All in all, we were into the elk. Put in 40 miles in 6 days up and down the rockies. Encountered 10 plus different bulls going bac and forth, but none committed. Ran through six foot high scrub trying to close the distance and loved every minute of it. Anyhow, just checked my cams in Ky tonight and no shooters, so probably take a doe on the weekend and try to get it on video for you suckas. On the more positive note, I am waiting for a new bow to show up, Elite Z28, which is being tuned up by Mike "Crackers" Carter. Should be here next week and then everything is in trouble. Getting some great pics from my guys in Kansas, big, big deer, so I have about 40 days until I'm out there. Should be interesting. Kel
Thanks for the update Kel. Sounds like it was one unforgettable trip, regardless of not killing anything. Speaking of Denver, did you go through that crazy metal detector machine where it blows air on you? My wife and I had to lay-over in Denver and they said they had just got this new machine. It was crazy. Sorry to hear about the knife though. Did they confiscate it? I surely hope not but I could see why they might wonder why you are carrying that thing through security. We had a bottle of water in our bag and I thought we were going to prison the way they acted. When that bow comes in I am gonna need to see some pictures. Elite is a brand I will be lookin' at come '09. I shot a GT-500 this past winter and it was a smoker, as well as a looker. I have to see what Hoyt brings out first, but I may shoot an Elite just for kicks. Good luck this weekend. A doe is in my sights for opening weekend as well. If a buck comes by, great. But I'm not setting my expectations high, I just want to get in a tree and hunt. Let the stresses of hunting come later.
kelly, good to meet ya, and enjoyed your tales of the hunt,, sorry nothing was in shooting distance but by the sounds of it ,it sure was a good time.. try to get those pics up ,would love to see the country out there..
50 points this weekend boys. Got a buddy of mine coming over with his kid for his b-day and since he's not ready to bow hunt, I promised him we'd take a doe together. Can always use some meat for the freezer anyhow. Later.
Nothing tonight. My buddy showed up late and we busted the deer walking in....that's what you get by opening up your land. On to tomorrow.
Getting today is still better than me sitting at home waiting for archery opener. :d Good luck tomorrow Kelly.
First day of season here and nothing. Perfect night, so I thought. After Jill and I got the camera equiptment out of the tree and started heading down I heard what sounded like a good buck take off. It was thick and in the short distance he ran you could hear the distinct sound of his rack hitting the branches on the pine trees. Oh well, the season is still young
Still young indeed. Mine is even more youthful....still waiting for birth. Our spamming days are over....it is time to climb trees and arrow stuff.
You lucky bastards! Im going crazy a few more days and I will be in my stand, having some friends in form florida for the opener, so it will be a good time, got alot of promising spots,, will keep you posted, oh and I got laid off friday due to budget cuts,, can you believe it , sux, but told the wife ill go and get the "groceries" on saturday morning! ha i can already taste some deer poppers! good luck out there
