Beautiful day for some afternoon scouting on public land. This property has a ton of pre cut hiking trails that make scouting and access pretty easy. But as you can see in this photo - an awfully lot of prairie/dense crp for this part of Indiana a very unique property. B876B6F3-AD87-4403-BC05-2C2D03F108A5.jpeg

Had two big does bed down 75 yards from stand yesterday evening. They didn't come any closer. I was out again this evening. Noticed I was missing bottom limb stop on my bow, saw eleven does and fawns and had a visitor in the tree with me. Heading to bow shop in the morning.

Was 41 in Kentucky this morning, pretty crazy considering 6 days ago it was 101!

Gonna try to get a doe down this week after work. They should be moving good!

NOPE to that snake photo. That’s an absolute nope for me. I’d have gotten out of that tree so quick.

Got out tonight and trimmed some lanes on a new set. Hung an old set that we call the Walter Payton stand. I don’t name my bucks but I name my stands when I have a good stand… We moved it for a better stand but due to some trees falling down we decided to go back to ole faithful.

In a perfect world I have 3 more stands to hang. My guess is that 2 of the 3 get done. I’ve got some more time later this week to get things dialed in. I typically don’t wait this long but having a 5 month old has altered the pre-season a bit. But if I’m being honest I don’t mind waiting for cooler temps to hang stands even if it’s just days before the opener!

She requested deer and noodles so that is what she got! She did so good on the hunt and drilled her. Debating on taking my 8 year old out this weekend for her first hunt. Bow season opens Saturday but I may give it up for her. I was shaking so bad when she was about to shoot the doe! Loved it!

Been excited all day to look at sd cards from Oklahoma place. Son-in-law moved cattle off the section I'm hunting a week ago. A little disappointed with card pull. No bucks, only does and crows. Several real nice bucks on my son's camera, 750 yards away. He had 3600+ pictures. Too bad 3500, give or take, were of cows. We will be moving his stand closer to where I'm hunting. We have a couple other stands on the section without cattle.

Got out and hung two more sets today! I’m pretty much ready to go at this point. Need to get my gear all washed and ready to go. Final days. LFG!

One of my favorite stands on any property… Typically when beans are in the field it serves more as an observation stand than anything else. You can just see forever and I’m tucked in where it’s nearly impossible for me to be busted.

I reckon this hurricane weather isn’t gonna make for too good of hunting this weekend, but I’ll still go. Who all is hunting this weekend?

Weather here in Indiana looks fantastic. 50 tomorrow morning. Needless to say I will be in the woods. Hope to hunt Saturday AM and either Sunday Am or PM... Just depends on us going to Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. I'm looking at a NNE wind tomorrow - I'm trying to figure out exactly where I want to hunt. Yet to be determined.

Tomorrow is opening day in Oklahoma. I won't make it out. Working until 3am tonight, soccer at 10:00, flag football at 11:00 and working 2:30-midnight Saturday. Not sure where I'm hunting Sunday morning, Arkansas or Oklahoma. Will hunt Oklahoma in the afternoon. Vacation all next week! Best of luck to everyone.
