Wind is completely wrong for Arkansas honey hole. Made 40 minute drive to hunt Oklahoma. First time hunting here since rifle season closed. Surely they didn't kill them all. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Vacation starting at midnight tonight! I may get out tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning. It will be a busy weekend with school/church Christmas programs and basketball games. I should have several good opportunities to get out during the week. Taking my granddaughter out for antlerless rifle season in Oklahoma also. I'll take my bow just in case we see a good buck. Vacation for next season has been approved. Looks like I'll be in the woods from October 22 - November 4. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Leave starts 21 DEC thru 2 JAN. Going to try to find me a deer with antlers still on his head. Sent from my Lone Wolf treestand using Bowhunting.com Forums
Good luck we already found a match set lol. Way too early for this! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Broke in the new muzzleloader this morning. Easy 50 yard shot. Blew her heart up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
One of my target bucks was found about a 1/2 mile away from my house. A friend of my son found him while riding horses. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
That is too bad! Did you get to keep the storied antlers? Sent from my Lone Wolf treestand using Bowhunting.com Forums
Buddy’s dad passed away, so went to visitation and then finish Christmas shopping. Going urban here at the house tomorrow morning, then waiting out the blizzard for a major temp change on the backside. I don’t have any ground blinds this year or I might have sat tomorrow, but 22-40 mph winds at 7 degrees, not sure I could sit that all day. Probably missing a great opportunity, so better prep next year. Sent from my Lone Wolf treestand using Bowhunting.com Forums
Pipe burst in garage. Next day or so is IFFY for hunting now. Sent from my Lone Wolf treestand using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was able to hunt a few days the early part of last week with no luck. I'm not built for the temperatures we had the end of the week. I hunted a different property yesterday mainly to check a camera. It has always been a good late season spot. The ground is covered with winter creeper which stays green year round. One of my target bucks moved over a mile from his fall range into the area. Also have pictures of another nice buck. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I'm sure I found the right spot for late season. I've seen 18 by 8am. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Hey guys, have any of you heard from sycamoretwitch? He's on this team and he's a fellow Hoosier. He's usually very active on the lfts thread but he hasn't been seen on the forum since 11/6. That's very unusual for him. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Not much traffic lately on this team. I may be the only one still hurting. I saw 18 yesterday and 13 this morning, all does. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
Sat yesterday and got very little movement. May go out tomorrow. Trying to use decoy to draw in some buck group interest with light rattling and group single grunts. Two lessons from yesterday. 1. Just because the neighbors are shooting their AR-15 with two hours of light left does not mean deer are heading to the other county. They just come out with that last 45 minutes, so don’t give up. 2. I gave up with twenty minutes left because of the AR-15, thinking the field would be cleared because of it. Actually cost me a shot at a buck most likely. Scenario: I gave in and dropped my bow and bag down by rope with 25 min left, decided to take my hang-on down for options in the coming days. Got down to second stick and loosened my top strap and looked over and a large doe was in the field staring at my decoy, then another popped out. They went back and forth trying to get the decoy to move. Then! I heard steps behind me, me standing on a limb, no bow, I was stuck for 15 min. He was down wind and could not smell me or make me out. I moved my head to look back at the does and he jump East and kept walking no snorting. Lesson Learned: STAY IN THE STAND! Guns or not they stick to patterns and he was on the path next my stand and plan. I failed in patience with ignorance and prejudice. I let Youtube tell me I was done. Know your deer not Youtubers.
