alright guys, i was able to get away after school this past friday and head to mississippi for a weekend hunt. i put an arrow through this doe. gonna try to stock up on meat, then its buck only time fellas! glad to bring 50 points to the team. shot her right behind the shoulder. you can see in the pictures..my arrow somehow deflected and came out low and under the gut! she only ran about 60 yards thanks to my swhackers. but it was tough in that bryar thicket!!
Way to go BigEv!! I don't want us to get ahead of ourselves but we're in this thing! I think the key to be in the running will be the doe harvests, that's 600 points if everyone tags one. Don't get me wrong a couple of bullwinkles won't hurt either
the hunting club my dad and i are in has about 9000 acres of land. 48 members, but one about 20 deer hunt. the rest pay to run dogs once a year in late season, squirrel hunt, and turkey hunt. over the years though, the size and the number of bucks has gone down significantly. i checked a camera we had out for a while and all we had on it was one cow horn. this is probably our last year in this club because the timber company keeps raising prices! on the other side of the county, we old 120 acres of land. we neighbor a small tree nursery and the area is known for giants.. we've caught so many bucks on camera, bucks all the way up to 170 or so. the problem is..neighbors. we cant keep feeders, cameras, stands..anything out there! they let their dogs run on our land and whatnot. we've talked to them multiple times, gotten the sheriff involved..but its tough to maintain a hold since we're four hours away. point is, its getting harder and harder to lay eyes on a deer there during daylight hours. this past summer, an oil company decided to put a pipeline through our property running north and south. this splits one half of the property perfectly. they planted it in clover, and it just seems like an amazing spot. hopefully that helps..its just really hard to sit for hours and hours with no confidence in the place. i know there are big deer there, and we'll catch them on camera frequently when we are up there. i could resort to hunting it heavily over the rut, but its hard to even see a doe in daylight hours now.. hopefully ill get lucky and this pipeline being put in will throw a little luck my way.
had to take a break from packing and doing schoolwork..im heading up in the morning at around 6. ill be in a tree tomorrow evening boys. wish me luck. just ran to the store and picked up a pair of snake boots. the rattlers are pretty rowdy this year where im at. goodluck to anyone hunting this weekend.
I got my 50pts yesterday afternoon. 20 yard shot. She only went maybe 60 to 70 yards. Will be back in a tree on Tuesday and Wednesday. Looking for antlers now. Good luck to everyone.
Got her all cut up, in the freezer and the back of my truck washed out. Ready to get after him in the morning or if one of the TDs (Trophy Doe) I've been seeing comes in I'm taking her out as well. I just love big bodied deer, buck or doe.
Sorry CA doesn't issue doe tags, at least where I am. I just noticed I have to submit my score sheet and then we'll get credit for my buck. I'll have that done by the end of the weekend.
Finally got my score card posted on the other thread so we'll have 91 points coming our way on the next update. Sorry for the delay guys but I posted, threw away my notes and didn't check back for a little bit. Where are the bucks?
Before anyone flames ya bud, can you re-run your numbers....139 seems aweful high, could have just misread tape or miss-punched a number.
