sorry i havent been real active guys. i left friday after school to head up to wayne county, mississippi. my dad couldnt make the trip with me, so i couldnt spend much time on my phone. got up saturday morning and did some work clearing shooting lanes then had a dove shoot at my uncles place that evening. made it back here in louisiana at 1 in the morning. had to make a confirmation mass at church this morning. getting everything sorted out for the season, plus getting ready to lay down some ducks. im looking to be more active. anyone want to run me through how to post a deer for scoring?
Good job blt! Puts us on the board I'm hoping to get out soon as our VA urban archery season opened Saturday but I'm waiting for some cooler temps. Looking like 70's with overcast skies & chance of rain a couple of days in the next 10 so I might try to get an evening sit in on one of those. Really wanted to go yesterday for historical reasons, first Sunday I could have ever bowhunted in VA but family obligations had me busy.
The main thing you have to do in the field after the kill is get a pic of you, the deer, and your bow! If you don't do that then you can't submit it. Other than that it's easy. Go to official scoreboard and post the 2 pics with your team name, time and date killed and the gross score if it's a buck. Then list your equipment used. But it's in your signature so no need. Am I missing anything guys?
Hi all. Just back from our elk hunt in Colorado. We came back empty handed but, wow, what a great time with my son. We saw some elk just couldn't get close enough. I also got to experience my first conversation with a bull. Time to turn the attention back to deer season which starts in 7 days. We have our plots in but no stands up yet. A little behind huh? Plan is to get them up this weekend and then get back out to hunt in a couple weeks. Can't wait to see the trail cam pics when we do. Haven't got to check them out in a month and a half. Good luck to all.
Sounds like y'all had a good time. Too bad you didn't get an elk but sometimes it's all about the experience of the hunt. Sound like you need to hit the woods and get those stands up but that won't take long. Last season I waited till the day before the season so I know how it goes. Good luck. Can't wait to see what your cams got.
It's been a few years since I've been to Colorado elk hunting. Every time I would come out of the mountains at the end of the week I would feel like a changed person. A man needs to get out of the rat race and disconnect at least once a year. We plan on going back next season and I won't miss a season from then on. I just got word about getting the lease I have this year about a month ago now. Been rushing trying to get things setup. Just setup 3 stand sites yesterday. I don't like doing it this close to season but what do you do. Make the best of it I guess. I hope these private ground deer will tolerate a little more disturbance.
I think I can speak for all of us by saying we'd rather have you getting ready to hunt than be typing on the website! As far as posting make sure you have a camera with you. You have to take 2 pics, yes 2 and they are sticklers for the 2 pics, of you, the buck & bow in the picture. You have 2 days to score him using the Pope & Young scoring system. Below is the link to the scoring thread posted by Fitz. http://forums.bowhunting.com/2014-b...test/65063-***official-2014-scorecard***.html
The season opened up here in NC today..had a fawn come through shortly after shooting light but so far, that's it. Temp is about 70 degrees, overcast and light rain. Gonna sit for another 20 mins or so and return this afternoon hopefully with better luck. Good luck to all
Opened here today too. It's 81° blue sky and some clouds in the distance. Not really any wind this morning either. So far only two hens came in. I'm with you. At about 9:30 I'm making my way out until this afternoon. Good luck this evening.
Gonna try and take the edge off tonight. Hopefully I can have one of these does come in without a fawn so I don't feel bad haha
Good luck. I just made it to the stand for my afternoon session now. Hoping something comes out and plays. Changed the location to one of my stands in an old oak grove. Maybe I'll see something other then a couple old hens this evening.
Well the season opens here in Missouri tomorrow. I'll be hunting for the next 3 days. Looking forward to some tree time.
I saw a few but nothing in range. Mostly small bucks, does and fawns. I did see one early this morning but I couldn't make out how big he was. Body looked big and antlers were tall but that's the best I could see him. It was very first thing in the morning. I saw another nice one at the other end of the bean field on Monday afternoon. Too far to see if he was a shooter or not. I won't have that problem anymore. I just bought my first pair of quality binoculars yesterday. It's a blast sitting on that field with these things. Here's a couple pics from my stand. I did make a mock scrape in the corner of the field by me yesterday. I hung a dripper over it. We'll see what that does. It's fun playing the game!
