Double checking the WMA regs for one of my favorite public land spots. I just now realized that the previously archery only WMA has added a permit muzzleloader hunt the weekend of Oct 17-21  and a youth only rifle permit hunt the weekend of Nov 7-8. :throw: The muzzleloader hunt is not a big deal. But I am kicking myself for not seeing the youth hunt back during the application period. I could have taken my oldest in there and gotten him his first deer for sure. The spot lights up around Oct 25. I may have to try to hunt in there earlier than planned now. I was trying to leave this spot open for a couple more weeks. I was planning on hunting somewhere else tomorrow. I may just have to dive in there tomorrow and hope for the best. It is not looking like I will hunt next weekend. The forecast is calling for temps back up in the 80s.

So got home from work and didnt think i had enough time to go out. So decided to go run by the public and see how many people would be out. Several out but managed to find one hay field. So me and the girl went and set on a haybale with some snacks. 20201002_184844.jpg 20201002_184847.jpg

I hunted my favorite river bottoms spot until 10 am this morning. Saw one doe about 8 am at 80 yards. The trail I was hunting had a fresh scrap at 11 yards and fresh dropping at five yards. There were still flys on the droppings. I was in the right area just not the right tree. Next weekend is looking pretty warm, so it may be a couple of weeks before I get out again.
