Thanks Andy, at least for now, it seems our problem has settled down. I am hoping it stays that way and we avoid having to take legal action. Our opener was last weekend. It was hot, 85 for a high. Instead of hunting by myself, I took my older boys to the gun range to get ready for youth season. After that we went for a bow hike to scout a new piece of public I have been wanting to look at and just never have the time. We found lots of good sign from last year. I posted the details in the 2020 Scouting thread. I have copied it below. It is post #584 in that thread. There are some pictures of the sign we found that I have already deleted from my phone. https://forums.bowhunting.com/threads/official-2020-scouting-thread.97279/page-30#post-1596745
Going back through the team thread and forgot I had posted this. I should have bought a lottery ticket that day.
Alright so got tomorrow morning off to meet with the concrete guy. Called him so if he had time he could swing over and make sure it was good for him . Skidloader is broke down and it wont be done tomorrow. So he is going to meet me tomorrow evening. Well cant waste opening morning off. Im hunting in the am. Have to be at work by 9:30. Guna use a field edge stand and my treesaddle.
2 does thought i was guna get a 15 yard shot. Then they skirted me at 45. First hunt successful in my books. Give it an hour then gotta go to work.
Beautiful opening morning for a quick sit on the home property that gave me a few gobbles off the roost but yeilded no deer working back out of the ag fields. Headed 1600 miles to South Dakota leaving in the early morning hours tomorrow hoping to stick my first mule deer!
Yes it was a beautiful morning. Only seen those two does. No shot for me. Successful hunt though. They didnt see me or smell me. If thats their new path ill make an adjustment and be on top of them. Well back at work, but if everything goes alright ill get off early and get out tomorrow. Safe travels to south dakota. And thats why i dont have a cell camera haha.
Ended up aborting mission tonight. Severe thunderstorms, raining and hail. Plan to just hit it early tommorow and sit all day. 37° in the morning Sent from my SM-A505U using Tapatalk
If the weather keeps up like that all night, the deer will stay hunkered down. Should translate into good morning movement.
@bowhunter448 yes i only have my landowner tags right now. But i have two antlerless only and one either sex. Before i go to the public land ill buy a statewide either sex and a per county antlerless tag.
