Great job everyone! Within the next couple weeks I think we'll be adding some major points. Bucks are really moving and feeling frisky. :)

I have basically taken off the week to hang out with my wife. After a three deer weekend I do not have much motivation to get out in the stand especially since I can no longer take a buck the rest of the 2013 season.

This weekend looks to be good and I am headed back to Adams County Illinois to hunt with my best friend in some timber that I grew up on.

Hope you all are getting to spend some time in the woods and getting to see some stuff!

Hey guys I arrowed one of my hit list bucks this morning. He is not the biggest one but a real special deer to me, I have been passing him three seasons now. It's capitan hook. I appreciate prayers for recovery, the hit was directly on the left front shoulder. I got 12-16 inches penetration (shoot 80lbs) so I am not worried about penetration but he turned slightly at the shot and I am concerned I went in front of vitals. watched him run tail down for 60 or so yards, stop, walk in a semi-circle, then decide he wanted to go north, then back south , then zig zags, then couldn't see him. Then he trotted through an opening at around 125 yards from shot. I am nervous about the hit. will keep you all posted. Here is a pic of him. [IMG]

well gave him six hours, good blood for first 200 yards. he hit the edge of the field, then nothing. did a loop up around where I know he lives and sure enough he jumped up about 60 yards in front of me. watched him hobble if you can call it that for 100 yards and he went into a bunch of swamp grass that is around 6 feet tall. hopefully in time i will come a crossed him. it took him literally about 5 minutes to go 100 yards. his left front shoulder is broke and his right front injured bad. hit both shoulders, he looked miserable, worst I have ever seen a deer, can't believe he is still going. hopefully tomorrow I can find him.

PA, I had one go that long on me a few years ago. Don't overlook water as a possibility. I found my buck floating in three feet of water. I think he was trying to swim across a beaver pond when he finally wore out. I have read a few threads here with the same finding this year. Hope you find him easily. Sounds like he won't go far now.

PA sounds like your on him. Glad you spotted him and know where he is at. I agree with old man they die in water often. Bet he is expired after a few more hours. Any chance of getting another arrow in him ?

I agree that he will be done in the morning. Just make sure you take your bow with you and stalk up to the swamp grass where you last seen him. He won't go far with two busted shoulders. Good luck on the recovery!

So after backing out my cousin texts me to tell me he just saw the captain hook go by him at about 50 yards. He says he is hit in the front shoulders with an arrow but looked to be doing pretty well. (he didn't know yet i had shot him this morning) the place he saw him is 3/4 of a mile straight north of where i jumped him! I am just down right dumb founded. he said the wound was dry and he didn't have any blood coming from the mouth. So it looks like he may live, I have shot deer in the late season and had arrows stuck in there shoulders, but wow. i don't even know what to think. I can't figure out what made him cross a road and walk through a 1/2 mile of cedar swamp, then a quarter mile a crossed a hay field, by my cousin and into another swamp. He said he was still going north the last he saw him. He is one tough critter! I will be looking that swamp over pretty closely.

Well checked some cams today and the bucks are starting to move more. Haven't gotten any shooters on camera yet but crossing my fingers one will show. Plan to hunt tomorrow afternoon and Saturday.
