Well Opening day in Pennsylvania, already in the 60s at 5 o'clock. Wasn't expecting to see anything at all, but went out because it's OPENING DAY!!!

Got up in the tree with a perfect wind out of the West and extra crunchy leaves. Had a doe and a fawn come by right at day break, being that it was only the beginning, I let the old girl go. Couple more passed and then all of a sudden two doe came running right toward me so I grabbed the bow real quick and got ready for a possible shot. The doe was in a full sprint and there was noway she was stopping, so I thought.

At 7:55 the doe stopped at 15 yards, right in front of me. She was looking out in front of her allowing me to draw back, put the G5 Montec right through her lungs. It could've been a little lower and farther up but it was a decent shot and she didn't make it 50 yards.

Waited about 30 minutes, then got her cleaned up. I didnt want to wait too long due to the temps today. The flies were already swarming when I came up to it.

And here is the trophy pic.. Looks smaller in the pic, it was an average sized doe.

    Congrats Jake!

I sat for the first time this morning. Got skunked! It's way too hot for the deer to be moving during shooting hours. It was 70 degrees when I climbed the tree this morning. This weekend is our doe only early muzzleloader-bow season. I'll be out with the bow Saturday and Sunday morning.

I sat a new stand tonight. I set it up on Friday afternoon. It was a great evening. I had 4 does and yearling at 20 yards feeding for half an hour. All gave me shot opportunities. Then two little bucks came in to the same spot and moved the does out. They also gave me plenty of opportunities. One even came and sniffed the tree steps. I had put some ever calm on my boots for the walk in. The buck didn't react in the least. I tell you this single tag business is driving me nuts. I hope one of the big boys come in sooner or later.

Congrats Jake way to keep us climbing on the boards.

I took some antelope hunters out this weekend and saw two bucks and 6 does (mule deer) One of the bucks was decent but not great. Its supposed to warm back up this week do I don't know if I go in the evenings yet or not. They started cutting some feed so that's a plus

    Keep at em guys

Thanks fellas, we are hanging in the top teams so lets keep it up!!! Im itching to get back out after a buck but the temps here are just ridiculous. Finally got some rain today which dropped the temp a little and hopefully gave the plot a much needed drink.

Probably be out tomorrow afternoon if everything works out. Going to Ocean City this weekend but supposed to be in 70s anyway. Also have Columbus Day off so Ill be out then as well.

    Good luck and shoot straight!!

Nicely done Jake. Well I have hunted every day since Oct 1 and I have passed on 2 little bucks and a couple young does. I wish I could figure out how to upload a video off my iphone because I had a 2.5 yr old 8 pt walk right under my stand which was cool. Headed out here in 10 minutes when I get off to hopefully put one down. It's just a matter of time before a big doe or buck makes the mistake of walking past me!

Keep up the good work all!

    Hey guys

Just wanted to give you a quick update that I shot myself a buck last night. It is not a world class buck but it's big enough I will get a European mount done and put him in the garage. I will give you the story sometime either later tonight or tomorrow. It was the first deer big enough to put an arrow through. I have passed on quite a few so far.

Hope everyone's season is going well!

Well what an interesting night. Got in a new stand that we call the dam stand because it's near the dam of a farm pond on the property. I got in the stand just before 5.

At 5:15 I heard some noise in the corn behind me and turned around and saw this guy walking towards me.

He walked perfectly over my left shoulder and I hit him well. I kept waiting for him to fall but he kept running.

I waited until 6:20 and got out. There was good blood near the arrow and I knew he was dead. I looked for 1.5 hours and couldn't find him.

I worked today so had a friend go out and look who wasn't working. He called within five minutes and said he found him in the pond. I ran out and went in the pond after him.

The meat was spoiled since it's so hot here in Illinois so that was a bummer. I am glad I got the buck and glad I got a decent buck on the ground.

More points on the board for The Silent Threat! You done good. Nice deer. Glad you found him. It took me 8 hours to find one a few years ago. He was floating in a pond too. Swimming would be about the last thing I'd ever want to do if I was hurt. Go figure.

    Congratulations.
