i went out looking for some possible stand ideas and i think i found the "special" spot. its in the thickest woods on the property and smack in the middle of the thick brush is all nothing but apple trees :-) hopefully this spot pays off for me! how are the rest of you guys doing?

    Congrats again Dave!

I went out Saturday evening. Did some scouting with my stand on my back, but seen VERY little sign on this new property. Just a few small tracks. I got set up and at dusk I had a big coyote come through one of my shooing lanes but he went through before I could get drawn back. The rain is supposed to clear out soon so I'm hoping to go out and get that coyote out of there tonight. I might even skip the bow and take the gun to try to get him. There is plenty of time to get a doe with a bow (doe season only right now).

I just painted my climbing treestand. It has to be one of the ugliest treestands on the planet... but it has less shiny aluminum on it now. :) I put a fresh battery in my range finder too. LOL. Baby steps....

Christine, baby steps are ok. You are going to kill a good buck this year.

Long Beard Gobbler, that sounds like a great spot. It sounds like a great place for a community scrape to be.

Well, only two more weeks in Spetember. October is almost here. Everyday is going by way to slow. We will al be hitting the woods running very soon. Jimmy's season has already started in WI. I hope he is off to a good start.

Hope everybodys finishing preperations are going well.

Good luck out there Caleb. I hope you smoke a big boy on the very first sit. This will be my first year in the last 3 seasons I will be missing out on the Ohio opener.

    Caleb... nice. LOL. Good luck!

Kmod, I bet that owl was seeing spots after that flash went off! :)

I put in a few volunteer hours today where I hunt. I still need to put in six more hours but then I'm done with that. They've been having me kill multiflora rose. First I cut it down, then spray the stumps with herbicide. Then I get to spend the rest of the day picking thorns out of myself.

I also put up my trailcamera. I don't think it's in a great spot for deer but hopefully it's safe from other people. I guess I'll find out.

My camera out in the woods. First time I've put it out so I probably have it set up completely wrong. I put it in this spot because it's one of the more open areas. It's kind of thick in there.
