I spent a month in England when I was 17. It was a great experience.

I also found this one online. I might be able to do something with it to customize it, but it's not really in wheelhouse of skills.

I fear that I have fallen in with a bunch of scallywags and ne'er do wells (look it up) and will probably be scarred for life. I think I like it!

Checked my trail cams tonight. I've only been running cams on two spots, but I don't have jack squat on camera. I had one potential stud come through back in June, but haven't seen him since. Other than that the biggest buck I have is about 110" 2 1/2 year old. I put out another 4 cams tonight so hopefully I'll pick up something worth getting excited about.

I know things will change once they start to establish their fall range, and then again once the rut kicks in, but I'm just in a wait and see mode. With all the fallow ground around me, I just don't have high hopes for my 40 acres. Looks like I'm really going expand my options by hunting more public ground and hit a couple places up north and see what I can come up with.

Nothing worse that letting your cams soak for a month and getting nothing on them.

Things can change in a hurry, especially once they lose velvet. Seems like you are in a good area down there, minus the poor crop situation this year

I'm with you in the cams. I had 1 good buck show up on the last pull but nothing super. He was maybe a mid 120's 10 point. I'm still waiting on a good 150" buck from last year. He had a split G2 so I hope he shoes back up. Also a buck I call Bull Winkle. He was a very wide 8 point but had no time length at all. Might have scored 110 last year but he's at least 4.5 this year.

Would like to put a kid on him or my wife. That's just me saying I want someone else to shoot him so I don't have to

Oh and on another property I have a buck of my nightmares. I call him Holy $@!&. Not running trail cameras there and rarely see him. For the last 2 years me or my friend have seen once. I saw him 2 years ago as a 170" 10 pointer with a bunch of kickers. My friend saw him last year as a mainframe 12 with kickers. He was about 190 last year according to my friend. Hopes are low but I'll go in there with the right winds.

Hoping to get done with work a little early today, (and then get out of helping my brother move, at least for a little bit) so I can go hang one stand that I am quite excited about. Bow season is coming quick!

Excited to check cameras this weekend as well. Another two weeks or so and the bucks should have shed their velvet!

My plots are doing alright. Could of used more nitrogen but not too bad. [IMG] watched a few bucks grazing the peas and kale this morning for a 1/2 hour. It's soooo close.

Looks good. It's been so wet hear I haven't gotten my brassica s in the ground. I've tilled my spot 3 times, each time it has rained/flooded out the spot. I can't get it dry. I think I'm going to fall seed some clover instead so I at least have something growing there.

Have you thought about oats? Those things will sprout on concrete and they come up fast. Sept is the ideal time to plant them too.

Hadn't thought about it. That might work. Maybe Iwill use it as a cover crop for the clover

Agree with you there booner, we have had good luck planting wheat, rye and/or oats as late as Labor Day. Rape has also worked well mixed in with one of those

I tried turnips 2 years in a row with great growth but the deer just would not touch them. In December and January they'd walk through the turnip plot to dig in the cornfields. The soil was great for plant growth but maybe it wasn't right for taste? No idea.

Did it take the deer in your area time to warm up to the turnips?
