Things are starting to look up for my property. I'm starting to get some quality bucks on camera. Still at night, but that should change. My new stand location seems like it's going to be a great spot with 3 bucks, all in bow range last Sunday Morning on my first ever sit there. I probably could/would have killed that larger buck if I hadn't been watching a spike mill around behind me. The bigger one snuck in on me while I was watching the spike and he was at about 10 yards from my stand when I realized he was there. I whipped around, moved the camera into position and grabbed my bow, but he was walking at a decent pace and never stopped. If I had been ready I could have stopped him at about 12 yards and drilled him, but I just couldn't get everything ready. I suppose I'm glad I didn't get the opportunity because I think there will be some bigger boys running around in the next week or so, and since I'm going to be on vacation from the 7th through the 15th, I think I'll get some chances.

It would have made for one of the better days I could remember though. Chiefs won in London and the Royals won the World Series.....(That's for you Ryan:poke:)

I hate it when people don't smile in hero pictures! I kill a deer and I'm damn proud of it! Haha! Got to enjoy the whole thing with a new and very good friend. He was sitting 60 yards away and watched the whole thing!

My friend pulled a card today from a camera 200 yards north of where I shot my buck. My buck made an appearance 5 days before our fight to the death!

9 days off starting in an hour. Plan on hunting every day until I can wrap my hands around some antlers.

I'm all loaded up and ready to leave at 5:00 am for Missouri. I'll be bow hunting for 7 days straight and then the MO gun season opens on the 14th. The first two days I'll be all alone at camp. My son will get there Monday morning, and my nephew and brother will show up on Thursday morning. This hunt is something I live for every year.

My wife said "Good Lord! You're packing everything but the kitchen sink". I just replied "I have one of those in the camper". :)

I do tend to over-pack. I not only packed my back-up bow, but I also packed a back-up gun. :D

Been in a tree for an hour and a half. Nothing yet.

Here's home for the next 10 days: (not sure what the pic quality will be with this new BH.Com app)

So close twice today. 3 more steps and I would have drilled the first one this morning. The second one, I wasn't sure on the yardage because I forgot to get the range finder out of the bag. He ended up being at me max range of 40 yards. I was estimating 45 and her was pretty alert as he was starting down my decoy.

Today was pretty darn good. Saw 11 bucks, and passed a nice three yr old 8. I did see the buck with the goofy beam this morning at 45 yards. Hope tomorrow things are still rockin!

Way to go Dan, that's a great buck!

Just finished seven days but I just couldn't make it happen. Saw a number of 1.5 and 2.5 year old bucks but nothing bigger. Just dont know where they went. Looking at my work schedule to see what I can make happen....
