I'm a little jealous of you guys getting to hunt this weekend, but like I said before, some things are more important. I am looking forward to meeting that new grandson. I'm a little concerned about my vacation/hunt plans for the 6th through the 16th. The extended weather forecast shows rain where I hunt in Missouri starting on Thursday and going on out through Friday with a break on Sunday and Monday, the 8th and 9th. It'll make for a messy campsite, but it's supposed to be showers and not storms. Oh well. It's still hunting camp and it beats work. Maybe the forecast will change. Good luck this weekend guys!
Probably quite a ways from you in NW Missouri. It's in the Mark Twain National Forest close to Van Buren, MO - SE Missouri. Our Dad use to take us there as kids and he got us hooked on deer hunting. Back then it was something special if you even saw a deer and you got all excited just seeing tracks. Things have changed a lot there.
Yes it is, and that is a big part of what draws my brother and myself back there every year. That and the nostalgia. It's a strange feeling to go back and visit the primitive campsites that we used when I was a young teenager back in the 70's and see a rock fire ring that we built along side our Dad. We lost him in 1989 but when we're there it almost feels like he's there with us.
Will be hunting tonight and most of the weekend as well. Hopefully this weather isn't too much of a pain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not been out for a few weeks but I got plans for a all day sit on Monday or Tuesday which ever will be the coldest looking like Tuesday but will keep you all updated when I do
It took a month and a half, but I finally have some buck movement on my property. I hung this stand yesterday afternoon in hopes to catch bucks cruising this ridge. Now I just need a mature one to do the same. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
Thanks guys! Shot him twice which is a first. First shot he was quartered away and hit liver and one lung. Didn't realize how quartered he was. He ran 15 yards and stopped. Was able to arrow him again and took out both lungs. He ran a few steps and fell over dead! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm going to head out 2moz AM not sure if I will do a PM. Will keep live from the stand and here updated.
