I could've closed the distance on that gnarly bugger, but with that droptine hanging out 300 yards from him, I couldn't do it
Ya it would be tough shooting something smaller with that thing around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Beagle that droptine is unreal, I would have kept after him too. This was public land? Can you make it back out again? Rednek, you need some heads that leave a hole Awesome
Saw a shooter 8pt last night, & a stud 2 year old 6pt with a split g2. Had 2 does working my way too until they cut the track of the amish guy hunting the woods bordering me who walked into the woods with the wind at his back....
Anyone had any good encounters? It's been warm here..but a cold front hit this morning. I'm headed out now. I expect good movement today & tomorrow
I'm out hunting the back of my house. Been here about an hr and have just had my 3 resident does run past the edge of my food plot. Not sure what spoked them but it couldn't have been me. My food plot has been wiped out already so I'm thinking a expansion is on the cards for next year. I will be pulling my sd cards when I get down so will update if anything good is on there.
I almost shot my antlerless deer tonight, then I saw some nubs and decided to pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was out a few times this weekend and saw a few small bucks but nothing bigger than a 2.5 year old. I'd happily take a doe but it seems the fawns are all that's coming in range. 85 here today, too hot!
I've decided to give something a little different a try here. I usually always try to shoot a doe before the rut comes around, but I've decided that this year I will wait and try to get one late season, assuming I don't kill a buck relatively soon. Usually, I don't hunt at all after gun season just to give the deer, and myself, a break. I figure that if I don't have a doe down by then, I'll maybe have more initiative to get out there and keep plugging away.
I tried that strategy last year and it didn't work for me. Not saying it won't work for you though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Fre
I've only been out 3 times this season so far. My schedule was free and clear last weekend, but I came down sick on Thursday was out all weekend. Still trying to recover. This weekend we have a softball tournament for my daughters travel team, But I should have a pretty clear schedule after that.
I'm kind of torn on what to do this weekend. There's a two day muzzleloader season open on Saturday and Sunday in Kentucky and I'll be there. I enjoy muzzleloader hunting, but I really want to take my Kentucky buck with my bow since that's my best shot to put a buck on the board for us. I know I'll probably end up using my bow, and knowing my luck, the bucks will travel just out of bow range.
