I have a 3 day hunt planned on public land in East Central Ohio on public the first weekend of October. Scouted it out a couple weeks ago. Lots of promise but I’ll have to see if the deer are still on their summer patterns when season rolls around.

Got my biggest buck last year 400 yards behind my house cruising for does Nov. 11.

I messaged Lastoneout and Uncle Bucky letting them know the teams have been picked. Slugger is getting deployed so he is dropping out of the contest I think.

Not a big buck but something you don't see everyday...Triplets! They've been visiting my mineral site pretty regularly this summer

What’s good boys? I’m about to be back full time I get out of USMC next week and I’ll be unemployed for a few months.... I need at least 2 taxidermy bills this season.

    Thanks for your service!

Got back from a weekend of musky fishing in northern WI and ready to focus on bow season! Hopefully getting in my last food plot before the rain tonight. Also going to pull my card and get another camera out.

I like Elevated Affair for a team name. Seems fitting if everyone else is cool with it.

Welcome! Yes sir, thank you for your service! Elevated Affair works for me as well. Cannot wait until October, I have one last ground blind to put out hopefully this weekend and my wife and I will be ready to rock and roll! I’m really hoping all my deer done disappear like they have in the past and hold onto their summer pattern for at least a week in October. Would anyone like to volunteer to be the teams captain?

Elevated affair will be great. Now, one of you millennials needs to design a killer avatar.

I'm willing to be team captain I guess if no one else is, but if someone wants to do it, go for it! Someone else needs to do the avatar! :)

That settles it, AaronB is the captain I don’t think we should argue about it any more . I’ll see what I can do but my 4 year old is more computer savvy than I am.

Got the last plot in tonight. Soil was a little chunky from the 3” of rain we got Friday after an extremely dry summer, but with more rain in the forecast, it was now or maybe never. Oats, clover, chicory mix. Hopefully it can overcome the chunky soil and give some decent forage for the season. E81E13DE-EBE9-4E2D-BE22-692C7AF8A7D0.jpeg

That’s a good looking spot! I love an inside corner spot/stand! I planted a new plot this year on top of a ridge that had horrible rocky soil and it came up amazing. I’m heading in there this weekend to put a blind in and will take a couple pictures. It was a clover, chicory, winter pea mix so I’m betting you’ll be just fine

Lucky....I think I'm committed to 20 at this rate though.... Team name sounds great to me also! Just picked up a new place to hunt however public still. Going to get in some miles this weekend and see what I can find for spots, and with all the rain recently somewhere I can get to that isn't flooded.

I think the plot will come up fine as well. That spot has been so good to me over the years. I have the perfect tree right on the plot edge that is surrounded by converging trails from the woods behind me. I overlook a huge CRP field with with cattails as well. Young trees are popping up everywhere, making it even thicker cover in the CRP. The tree I sit in hides me so well from approaching deer. I’ve shot all but one of my bucks from that stand and I literally can almost shoot a deer every time out from there.

I can imagine! It is definitely a great looking spot and one that I am very jealous of! Are you able to chop any trails in the crp to persuade the deer to go where you want them to go?

I’m not sure if this is what we’re looking for but I’m not really creative, if anyone else has any other ideas or ways to make an avatar definitely put them out there, this one is really generic but about all I could come up with

Yup, we are allowed to cut meandering trails no more than 6’ wide. I steer the deer right where I want them. Works like a charm! I don’t think a lot of people realize how much bucks like CRP and cattails. It can be tough to hunt, but we have just enough trees in perfect places to make it work. Our property is actually WRP so we have a number of scrapes and ponds that funnel the deer as well. We duck hunt the property too, but the deer are used to that.
