Awesome! Congrats to you both. I’ve been trying to get my middle 2 kids their first deer the last couple of years. It’s not always easy. My oldest has shot 3. First one when he was 9. He will be 17 the 21st of this month. Man does time fly
That is my oldest in the photo, he is 12 this was his third deer. Deer in the south aren't as big as the midwest or north, but it is a target rich environment if you can find the deer. This was the fourth deer we that morning, the other three came through too quickly for him to shoot. My middle son and I saw two in the same spot Saturday morning and he wasn't able to get a shot off.

I took today off work and gave it a shot. I hunted in a creek bottom near an island I know is buck bedding. Same spot I hunted a week ago. Sat from an hour before daylight to 1:30. Unfortunately, didn’t see anything. I was going to sit all day. The light rain drizzle turned into thunderstorms and hail and won’t quit until early morning hours. I think I am going to skip the morning sit. My son’s kindergarten class is leading the Pledge of Allegiance in the Veterans Day ceremony tomorrow. I think I will take my kids to school, let my wife sleep in and take her out for a breakfast date. Then get out for an afternoon hunt.

Good luck to all who's getting out this weekend! I'm hopefully getting out on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I built some new arrows this week and got to test them out last night. Got a basket 8 point on public land tonight. Not much in the score department, but ends a four-year buckless drought for me. 30 yard heart shot, he didn’t go 40 yards. I will post him in the scorecard tomorrow.
