Full Moon tonight and through the weekend, HUNT MIDDAY! We have a fall family photo shoot scheduled for first thing tomorrow morning, as long as this forecasted rain does not turn into thunderstorms, I plan on heading out around 10 am and sitting the rest of the day. Good luck if you are out today.

Sit through midday if you can. I have been saddle hunting for four years now, I love it. Let me know if you have questions.

What setup are you using? I have a cruzer xc and the seeker platform and using XOP x2 sticks.

Well, it rained too hard for me to get out today. Too busy to hunt tomorrow. I am seriously toying with calling in sick on Tuesday. I may just do it. The cold front really hits hard here on Monday.

Well I made it to Kansas. I did some scouting and hung 4 stands so far. I didn't see as much sign like I normally see, just a few scrapes and some small rubs. It's pouring down rain and thunderstorms today with some more rain with ice tomorrow, probably won't get to hunt until Monday.
It's hard to find any nice trees for stands in this part of Kansas. 20231028_132644.jpg

Well I'm not in the woods this weekend for my self. Tomorrow morning I'm taking my nephew out to shoot some squirrels. Hoping to get a few. I'll most likely do full day sits next weekend And the following weekend.

Ended up pulling cards with my nephews this afternoon. Was pleasantly surprised by this fellow coming in and getting him on two cameras a couple weeks apart. Been seeing a lot of bucks lately and even had one nearly destroy my 3d target. Just need to put one in checkmate.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Decisions, decisions debating whether I want to call into work tomorrow or Thursday. I have never hunted Halloween due to work and family stuff with the kids. NW wind tomorrow which would let me sit near a known doe bedding area, but I can only until 2pm or so, have to get the kids from school. It will be colder tomorrow. Thursday is supposed to be S winds. But the morning movment time is supposed to last longer, and I could probably hunt all day. This would let me hunt a new scrape line I found scouting earlier in the month.

I was thinking about, the S wind would actually let me hunt the doe bedding area as well, just from a different tree. The draw back is I am planning to take my son into that spot on Saturday for the youth rifle weekend. I would hate to mess it up a couple of days before.

Well, I just blew my chance at a 170+ nontypical this morning. He was coming head on straight towards my stand and when he got to about 8 yards he finally started to turn. He was going to go behind a tree so I drew my bow but he caught me, and before I got to settle the pin he bolted. I bleated at him and he stopped but was behind the tree and I couldn't get a shot. Then he took off. I don't think he'll be back unless he gets hooked up with a hot doe and she brings him back.

It is looking like I will get my first sit of the year this Saturday. Will plan on being on stand all day if needed, we will see if that actually happens, lol. I have been extremely busy with house stuff and family activities so haven't posted much. I have limited time to hunt this year so I will not be picky on what deer I shoot. Freezer getting empty.
