Thursday May 1 is opening day for me. Can't wait! Have to work so I'll only be out for an hour and a half but every minute counts.
Set up the ground blind on the clover plot this evening. Two gobblers on the hillside above me sounding off in the roost. Hope they are there three days from now. Good luck everyone!
Well no luck for me this past weekend weather was miserable hunting in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Went out opening day started calling and found out the toms are henned up. They came in to 50 yards but no closer. Was repeating every call the hen made but couldnt fire her up so they turned around. Next and last try is the weekend- crossing my fingers.
I shot a very nice gobbler this morning about 21 yards but could not find him. I taking my dogs in on leashes to locate him in morning
In the blind for about 30 min now, sprinkling out 38 degrees cloudy. First time out. Have the Bear Lights Out, 3 Beman arrows and decoys set up at 10 yds. I've seen lots of Toms within 200 yds over the last few days, so they are here. So just a matter of getting one in range, but isn't that always the issue. Beautiful morning, good to be in the woods!
