Not really any sign of rut activity here in central pa yet. Weather just cooled off last week finally, but then the full moon hit and havent seen much buck activity at all. Actually only seeing deer movement in the evenings......nothing in the a.m so far.

I am running 4 cameras on scrapes right now and nothing mature yet in the daylight. I have not hunted yet and will not until I start to see or hear of mature deer during daylight hours. It is supposed to cool off on Wednesday and the time is getting right. I would guess this weekend should kick things off. I took my son last night for the last evening of early muzzleloader season and we sat on a fresh-cut cornfiled. We saw 30 does and not a single buck until the drive out in the dark. I could hunt back in the timber and probably find them during shooting hours, but I dont like to put that much pressure on them this early.

Send me some of those does I've yet to see a single doe this season and every sit except one i've had a buck within 20 yards. I really wish i could turn my firearms buck tag into a bow tag lol. I never imagined I would be wishing to see does!

Shooting a doe here is more or less a certainty. We simply decide which day we have time to deal with butchering and then put one down. Nice problem to have I guess.

Just checking in to let you know that I killed a 160" 10 pt at 5:40pm Saturday. I rattled antlers once and he was the first deer to respond. He has a broken G3 or would have grossed aboout 168". I finally started getting some daytime pics of older bucks and Saturday was my first day to hunt this year. I saw a decent buck in the morning and passed a lot of does. At about 5:15 I had passed about a 140" 10 point that was chasing does and grunting. Now I will kill a doe for another 50 pts for the team. I will post up the entry and pics etc. tomorrow. Good luck to the rest of you! Its time to put them down.

well guys I had the worst sit this evening since my first ever hunting sit but it turned out very nice. I hunted a spot I've left alone for 2 seasons right on an inside edge of a public land corn field. The only trees in the area were either a pencil or a way to big to place my lone wolf. I ended up hunting 9 feet off the ground and didn't see anything. As I was packing up I stopped to talk to another hunter and he asked if I had a flashlight he could buy. He had shot his first deer ever with a bow and needed to go track it. I had the pleasure of helping him recover his deer it was real spotty blood but she piled up after 100 yards from the shot. I truely feel there is no other group of people more helpful than bowhunters so it all about paying it forward:D

Well guys Sorry, but I had a terrible archery season this year. Well not terrible but really strange. Weather patterns were off, deer were acting odd and a few trespassers didn't help things. Just was happy to be out there. Good Luck to you all who still have a season left.
