Just posted this on the lfts. Got good pics of a buck we call Turkey Claw. He is healthy looking. He was mixed in the group of bucks when i shot high of the first buck this year. I didnt see exactly which buck i shot but knew he was one of the bigger ones. Hoped it was the split g2 buck i saw. Been having a tough time identifying them this year!
Gotta love this forecast if it holds true. Look at the temperature drop from Friday the 11th to Saturday the 12th. My first day in the stand, the 12th, looks to be a good one! May try and pull an all dayer!
I hope I can handle those temps. Here in Florida it's been anywhere from 85-95 like everyday for seven straight months and never really less than 70 at night. Gonna have to dress for the occasion!
Ended up seeing 6 deer this morning. 3 does and 3 question marks. Minimal chasing, so I packed it up and went to basketball. Little dude killed it and got his team's sportsmanship award!
Dude youre gonna freeze your nuts off haha! I try to get pretty acclimated from the get go. I purposely underdress earlier in the season. By january goose hunting and late season deer i hold up ok.
Hey, I've hunted Ohio for 43 straight years. I'm not that far removed from the cold. I loved my late season below 0 hunts. Those were some of the most enjoyable. I know what to expect. I've only been here in Florida since late March. I know it'll be cold, but not brutal. I'll be good. Plus I'm hunting, that's going to get my blood flowing!!!!!
Well guys, my week is not off to a great start. Around 6:30 last night, I left home to head to join @LittleChief in Missouri. I got 50 Miles from home, hit a bump hard on the interstate and my jeep went into death wobble. By the time I had pulled over, the engine had shut itsself off and I coasted to a stop on the shoulder. The CEL light came on and the mileage display started saying “off bump.” I ended up getting towed and made it home at 10pm. Fortunately, I made it home safe. My awesome wife knows how much I have been looking forward to this. She told me to rent a vehicle and go, deal with the jeep later. So, last night before bed I made a reservation with enterprise for a small truck until Saturday. Hopefully, they actually have it and I may be on the road in time to get in a hunt this afternoon.
Well, I have a rental truck. I am loaded up and ready to roll. Just waiting on the tow truck to come pick up my jeep and take it to the service place. hopefully, I will get MO in time to sit tonight.
Well crap! I just got a text that somebody is looking for a deer at my urban hunting property. I thought it was my secret spot!
This memory card issue is killing me. First the computer was taken by my niece. Then, the card slot is for the small memory cards. So, my camera memory cards won't fit in the laptop. They are trying to find someone that has one that fits the memory cards. Looks like I'll end up taking my laptop up and I'll be sorting through the pics on Friday evening. At least I'll have something to look forward to Friday evening too. Hopefully looking at some big boys!!!!!
The pics I sent of that nice 10 point was sent by my neighbor on the family farm out there. He owns 3 different properties and said that 10 pointer is cruising our area. That's how I got those pics.
That's where I passed the little 9 point 2 weekends ago. New bucks usually cycle through after the rut, so I still have hope.
Tomorrow looks like the best weather so far this rut. Do I hunt the same farm that I've been seeing the little bucks at (no big bucks on cam) or try a new place with no camera info? The wind is better for the new place.
