Great job. Tough one on the meat. Curious where entrance and exit wounds are? How far from where you **** him did he go? You doing anything with the head, Euro? Was the dog going in the right direction or was he a different way?

Dog was close! She was dealt a tough hand on one of her first tracks. Ill post entrance and exit. Not a bad shot. Little further back than it should have been. 2 inches further fwd would have made a big difference I just did line distance assuming he took path of least resistance which who knows, he went 412 yds total. 160 to his first bed.

It never ceases to amaze me the toughness and durability of these animals. Then you add in the rut is kicking in and they are even tougher to put down. Unless you make an absolutely perfect shot in the rut, you may end up with a very long track job.

Absolutely spot on. I also think he may have been bumped by coyotes. He was facing back the direction he came from the bed. Not away from it. Almost like he turned to face his pursuers but who knows. They are so tough.

I should have some pics, hopefully of some big boys. My son will be checking the cam either Thursday or Friday. I'm really hoping to see 3 bucks I know for sure are out there unless something happened to them between the end of last season and now.

Alright guys, 122" inches of bone puts us at 272" and good for 10th place. Over these next 2 to 3 weeks I expect to see us climbing the ladder!!!!!

If this weather hold true should be some fairly decent hunting. If able I'll sneak a hunt in Friday evening the 11th, but that probably won't happen. So probably starting Saturday morning and depending on my success, I'll be hunting through the next Sunday. As long as there isn't much rain, wind, I should get a lot of quality time in the stand those 9 days. Screenshot_20221102-023102~2.png

I just heard that they will do this! J hook at their first bed to watch for pursuers. WCB podcast just had a dog handler on...so I probably heard it on there.

    Congrats again @Shocker99!

I should be headed to MO Monday morning, possibly Sunday afternoon, most likely Monday. It is youth rifle this weekend so I am going to take my older boys out, assuming we stay healthy. My oldest has had the same upper respiratory infection I have had the last week and half. I feel like I am almost over it if this pressure in my ears would go away. I am going to go the doctor tomorrow just to make sure it is not an ear infection if it has not cleared up by then. Tomorrow would be two weeks, it is not bad, just annoying and hanging on longer than normal.

It actually makes sense and I believe after really thinking about it I am the one who bumped him when i got turned around trying to get out of there in the fog. Where he was lying there was no scuff marks or sign of a struggle like coyotes chased him down and finished him off. It seemed as though he posted up in a spot he knew he could look back and have a 1150-200yd visibility in a place where everywhere else has a 30-50yd visibility max. Looked like he just tipped over. Wouldnt you like to be a bird or something where you could see it all happen. Makes your imagination kick in.
