How are the temps? Any worries about meat spoilage?

That is not so bad, I have killed an elk and let it hang for four days in 60 degree weather without spoilage. You might lose some if gut matter gets on the meat, but it won't waste the whole animal without getting warmer.

Letting it hang is one thing, but laying on the ground not cleaned out is another. Hopefully he laid down and it took him awhile to expire and he's where the sun won't hit him any. From what you've said, sounds like he's dead. Just a matter of getting out and finding him now.

Just waiting on Shockers report. In the LFTS thread it's not promising.

Sorry guys. That dog worked her butt off and kept losing interest. She wanted to head onto a property i cant go. Not sure but we did a little grid searching and then i had to deal with a run-in from this other recluse hunter that hunts out there. He was being a straight up jackass. Had to deal with him and then i was out of time. The dog was not being productive anymore and it just didnt go as id hoped. From POI it was promising. The dog tore out of the gate. Didnt even need to say where the deer went she was on it. Then after the bed she lost it. Took alot of time there restarting her. She did get on something in a ditch in the field but she seemed to lose interest in the middle of it. We gave it a valiant effort. The jackass is hunting there this whole week. I told him i would wait to search again since meat wont be good anyway. Sucks im 1/4 on shots fired this year. Never had a year like this.

Yes, it does suck. Anyone who has been bow hunting a long time almost always has this happen to them at least once. I've been hunting for 43 years, 23 of it strictly bow hunting. I had one horrible season where I just couldn't explain anything, made what I thought were great shots had great blood trails to start out, nice bubbly frothy blood and eventually lost 3 very nice bucks. Clean missed a few as well then there were 2 other giants I hit but never found. One of them I knew survived cause I saw him 2 other times that season and once again the next year but that was it. I still think about all those from time to time but you gotta move on. I know with it just happening it's easier said than done. Your pay day will come. It will come back to you.

Take some time off and relax little bit. It will pay off this year.

Not sure if you have followed my crazy year but I'm also having the most abnormal year ever...sitting at 1/3 recovered, after entering this year with really only two deer before I'd never recovered I've lost two does this year. SUCKS man.

Lick your wounds, practice till that confidence is back and then breathe that deep air again in a stand. Good luck man!

Yea, this weather is terrible. I'll mainly be focused on morning hunts. Taking Thursday - Monday off work

Sucks to hear that Shocker, but it's time for some redemption! All you can focus on is making the next shot count.

Had a couple close calls in the last week. I think I already mentioned it, but had that 10 I was after at 20yds right before legal light on Thursday morning. Then had a few good hunts over the weekend. My dad shot a nice 8-pointer at the same spot that the 10 has been on. After he shot the buck, I went out there to help him and check cameras. After loading the buck into the golf cart, I went around to check a couple cameras quick, low and behold I stumble onto the 10 on one of our mowed paths. He just stared at me, and I couldn't tell it was him at first. I took a video with my phone, and as he turned around to run the opposite way, I could tell it was him...This buck has 9 lives!

Then I had a big-bodied buck with a broken left main-beam out at my other spot. He finally made his way to within 20 yards about 10 minutes AFTER legal light as I was packing up...

    I'm getting close! MicrosoftTeams-image (92).jpg MicrosoftTeams-image (91).jpg

Checked a card this afternoon in the field my son killed in. A newbie showed up while I was gone. Hopefully he plans to stick around.
