Wish I could, trying to finish up the old house and move a few more things before I leave for Oklahoma on 10/24. We close the selling on old house on 11/1 when I get back. Crossing fingers I can hunt next weekend before I leave. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Im formulating a 1st degree murder plan for tomorrow as i type. Its between private by my house or couple public spots each an hour + 15 min away. Decisions decisions. Im planning on all day tomorrow and Sunday morning and possibly a sick day on monday because of the weather. Might even stretch into tuesday??? Who knows anything can happen.
I'll be out Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, depending on pics. I put some bait out at my urban property and got a 135" on cam...sorry, 135" total between 3 little bucks.
I heard there is a bad case of the deer flu going around. It causes heavy breathing and the shakes. It’s pretty serious. Only way to take care of it is a shot. I am heading flit in the morning to the coyote hole. I think they pick the corn field by it. As long as I don’t get trembled by cows in the morning it should be a good sit. Good luck and stay safe this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Didnt ee squat this morning except the deer in the bean field. On way out to tree tonight i bumped a couple bucks up and one was super nice probably 140-150 class. Torn between setting up in area i kicked him up or just letting it rest and not blowing my wad so early and bugging it up. I think i know the answer
Well, I had no intention of hunting this weekend. Was going to take the family to the pumpkin patch, but the MIL wasn’t feeling up for it so we didn’t go. Oldest boy said he wanted to go squirrel hunting and scouting on a WMA 15 minutes from the house. Until this year, this WMA has been a draw permit hunt only. Last time I drew the permit was four years ago. We ended up walking about about 3 miles in total to the far end of a steep ridge and back. We had one encounter when we bumpedwhat I think was a buck from its bed. It was bedded on the edge of a steep draw in athicket. The leaves were so crunchy and loud it was impossible to be silent. Fortunately,my son is pretty patient and we spent mostof the time working on still hunting. I think we made it within 50 - 60 yards of a bedded buck that was on the far side of a thicketfrom us. Only think was a buck because it seemed to be alone and we found a fresh rub with a bed after it finally left. The wholeencounter lasted about 15 minutes. I thought I was going to grunt him at one pointbecuase I heard it bound off and then come back after some light grunting. Never came close enough for a visual. i doubt I will spend much time in this area. Minus the encounter, there was very little sign in the three miles we covered. There was also a major hiking trail that I did know went as far back as it did. Map made it look like it was a 1/4 mile trail down to the lake shore. It ended up going the entire ridge including right through the top of it where several ridge points came together.
My brother had a great day yesterday; he is hunting with my dad in Alberta. Unfortunately, due to travel restrictions and things going on at home, I couldn’t make the trip. He killed a black bear yesterday morning and a huge mulie yesterday afternoon.
That bear is sweet. I seen five this morning. Had a fawn bed 25 yards from me chewing on its cud. Might try and make it out tomorrow afternoon. Also I about got trampled by some cows this morning. Its a good way to wake you up. Good luck and be safe Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was gonna give it a rest this AM even turned my alarm off. I wake hp at 4am every morning for work anyway so i laid wide awake and something told me to get my ass out here. Hope whatever it was was right. Set up about 40 yds from where i kicked those 2 bucks up yeaterday
I shot a doe tonight. Kicking my self. He was facing towards me little bit. I think I got part lung and guts. Followed blood for 2 to 300 yards. Then we lost blood. If I get done early tomorrow I might try and head out. makes me sick Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It is LFTS, the backed out last night after half mile track with no beds. I think he said he may try a dog today. Not looking good unless the dog can find it. From his original pictures of white hair, I am guessing it was a high hit; over the top of the near lung, got the farside lung. I did that on a doe a few years ago. Tracked it a half mile before property lines forced me to abandon the search. Hopefully, he can have better luck.
