Speaking of ribeyes, this is probably straight out of left field.. There is a steakhouse north if Albany maybe around Schenectady? All I remember is the place served a 22oz New York strip, 28oz ribeyes, do ya know the place? We used to make our way there a couple times during the summer with our Lake George neighbors but I could never remember the name of the place.

Ruffed grouse hit the windshield yesterday. Had that for a snack. Damn good eating:cool:

Gonna start setting cams out for deer soon. I've never seen a year where so many decent bucks have been visable while cruising the evenings.

I want to say it was Cliffs steakhouse but cannot find it except one located near NYC. Maybe they went out of business although I would find that hard to believe since it was always packed.

Even with these temps lately, 91° highs, I am chomping at the bit for the season to start. I have a nice twelve point walking right by my stand like clockwork every morning. Going to have to see him on the hoof before I decide to give him a pass or an arrow IDK.JPG IDK1.JPG IDK2.JPG

Honestly I think he is a 3 year old. He was a decent 9 last year but he is lean and small when he stands next to a 5 year old I am definitely taking if given the opportunity. Plus, it's still early they're really starting to move around here. I had a bunch of new does and smaller bucks on the feeders and my cams in the woods caught some nice bucks coming through but I need to position those cameras better.

I have said for years, iffn you want him, shoot him
Too many people, that's a buck of a lifetime.

Not all bucks grow bigger with age.
I was obsessed with a buck that live right under my nose.
1000' s of trail cam of him over the years.
I decided I'd kill him as a 4 year old. The only time I seen him on stand he was in brush to thick.
He grew his biggest rack at 5. I hunted him hard but the only time I seen him was ,,C hristmas day. Easy shot but he'd already shed one side so I passed.
From 6 -7, he turned into a Ghost.
Never seen him but many many pics of him. Always at night.
At 8, he must been getting senile as he started moving a bit during shooting light.
He finally took an arrow on a cold/ snowy nov.eve.
Have not scored him as I don't give a rip but I doubt he'd go 140 gross.
The thrill of the chase with him means more then if he scored 190.

    I guess my rambling means.
I hope everyone on this team shoots what THEY want.
I'm probably not gonna pass on a 150 hoping for a bigger one for the sake of our team winning.
I hope you all have fun and if we win, we win:woot:

Is there a Mule deer differential? I most likely will not kill a buck in NY, even a good one around my area doenst trill me at this point.
Iowa, another story. I will most likey be picky and hold out for a good one or eat my tag. The farm and area I am hunting has some big deer, hopefully Ehd doesnt get them all.
The unit we will be mule deer hunting has some big bucks, but honestly they are few and far in between. I wouldnt pass a 150-160 to hold out for the few 180s around. If I see a cous over 100 inches, i will make a stalk if I can.
Not sure what help if any I will be the team, but you never know.
The last team I was on in 2016 on another forum we won. I scored a doe in NY and a late season mule deer buck in NM

Jimmy, that's what I meant on my last post.

There are some years where I've held out on a monster ( last year) and passed on a few bucks I wished I would have taken.

I hope everyone in this contest joined up for the " chance" of winning team.
I hope we all shoot booners but..
    Let's just have fun.
For my team's sake, I've never been a competitive Hunter!

I think Muleys are counted just the same. I remember last year one of the teams picked up an alternate and by the time he showed up on the Team he’d already killed a 180”+ Mule Deer.

Not much to report here in KY except for the seemingly never ending heat and drought. I have done nothing deer hunting related in the last month other than shoot my bow.

I am heading out shortly to check the zero on my fathers rifle that he take on his moose hunt next week. I bought it for him before our last moose hunt in 2016, don't rifle hunt at all so its just been sitting around since then. I think I am going to sell it after I come back from this trip.

I'm rifle hunting in New Mexico at the end of October. Went to sight in my 7 mag a couple of weeks ago and the first three rounds I sent downrange would have made you think it was my first time shooting, ever. It's been way too long since I've sighted something in at 500 yards or shot anything that wasn't a 300 blackout, 308 or 204 ruger, that 7 mag let's you know that you're shooting it..

What rifleya selling Jim? Good luck on the moose hunt.

I hear ya Bob. Dad made me shoot trap when I was about 10 years old and with a 12 guage. That thing beat the chit outta me and to this day, I have a flinching problem.

I agree. I am not used to shooting anymore. I basiy shoot my handguns and my rim fires.
I have hunted with a rifle about an hour in probably the last 15 years. Thanksgiving morning 2012 I sat in stand behind my house for an hour and shot a small 8 point. I am still asking myself why, but he ate good.
