I will be out Friday through Sunday, still rifle season here but I am going to try to get a sit or two in with the bow depending on the wind. Hoping to catch the big one we still have running around checking the doe bedding near the food plot. Or just stick a doe. I am planning on tagging a doe with the rifle so my fiancé can sit with me in the blind and watch, she enjoyed that last year.
Next few days a few of us could get a shot at a deer or 2. Just gotta get out there. Good luck everyone
I layer her up, boot covers, hand warmers every pocket, whole nine lol we did have a BIG shooter at 50 the other day. He got a whiff and went back the way he came…she hasn’t gave up! We’re trying haha she’s passed up a few nice deer. Wants a special one for her first. I can respect that. We had a big mature HALF RACK at 12 yards a couple weeks ago. Hunting public land I told her that’s a trophy in itself but she passed haha I’m trying for you fellas hahahah and her of course Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
She listens to everyone around her. We pass deer and pass deer so she’s picky too lol it’s her tag. When her buck shows she’ll know haha her favorite thing to say when she doesn’t get a shot at a big one is, “he just wasn’t meant to be my buck.” I can respect that. Had one sit this weekend among all the festivities. We ended up finding the buck dead that I was hoping to see and that was the only deer I saw.. Wounded during shotgun season apparently. I have some good radish plots and still some good food so I could still have one show up and never know what can happen on public. Only sat public twice so far I think I need to start hitting it more. One more shotgun weekend coming up then it's all bow from there till mid January. I don't want to eat my buck tag for the second year in a row so I'm not done.
Two? I thought it was just one. I am going stir crazy not being able to hunt. I am so envious of those still hard at it! Keep hunting everyone!
That's what I thought. Beaver, thank you for the update. Has anyone heard from Marsh? Finally, would you guys like to hear recounts of some hunts I have been on? I hate the lull! I figured if I could inspire people, in a positive with some of the amazing hunts I have been on around the world, it would keep the passion to be "out there" alive and well. As you all know, I live out west. I love to share. If anyone wants to experience adventures, like chasing elk, mule deer, pronghorn, etc. well, Iamyourhuckleberry! I will gladly do what I can to make your dreams a reality. I have been given a lot, I take great love in giving back.
Hey team, the way I see this, team 12 (in first place currently) has one buck and one doe more than us. We are not that far out of contention. Two average bucks or three does really puts us in the hunt...and that is what we must do-HUNT. Best of luck this weekend
I haven’t been following much in here as of late, but I’m getting pretty close on a buck, and feel like I may get him killed tomorrow or the next day. He’s not huge but at this point in the season he will probably still score 145 or so. I think I’ve entered between a 140 and a 160 the last three or four years that I was in this contest along with a doe every year so I still think I’m good for at least 190 points, whatever that does To the overall score.
