Good to see deer still dropping! I made it back out tonight and saw a couple more young bucks. They are moving though people are seeing the big ones just not me yet. Thinking about getting aggressive tomorrow with he climber after the morning hunt
Saw maybe 130" 8 point this morning locked with a doe. Also killed my second coyote of the year. Crazy. Came back to regroup and gona take the climber out and get real aggressive. Never tried anything like this before here. Might just surprise them.
Only saw three does this morning feeding away from me at 50yds. Was waiting for them to circle back but they never did.
"Snuck" into a little 20 acre thicket that has basically never been hunted in the lives of the deer that live here. We never hung a stand because it's so thick and basically left it as a sanctuary. Well not anymore. Jumped a deer coming in about 80 yards a way there is a scrape where I got alot of pictures of the bug 10 I'd most like to shoot. Will be here till dark fingers crossed its over before that.
It didn't lol should I fumble around in the dark or wait till first light in the morning? I plan to go to the back area with my climber. I know there are trees there that will work but i have never don't it before so I'm not sure what one to choose. I know I will probably spook deer either way.
I’ll lead off by saying I have never once in my 14-15 years of hunting had any sort of success on time change day. Rarely see deer, never shot one, nothing. Usually it’s a slow sit and I get down early. Well on the way out, I bumped a nice 8 and a doe. Then I was in the stand and just before daylight two shooters worked through. Still too dark to really see what they were, just that they were pretty big. Then from daylight to 9 I had bucks moving through constant. I was going to call it at 10 if I didn’t see anything else. At 9:45 my grandma texted and said there was a doe and a small buck out in the field so I decided to sit til 10:30. At 9:55 a deer caught my eye and it was moving my way fast. I saw it was a shooter, got ready and within 10-15 seconds had pulled the trigger. He was 10 yards from the stand, hard quartering to. Shot could have been about 4” further forward but I still got lungs. A little more forward and I would have avoided the guts all together which would have been nice.
I will get a tape on him tomorrow evening probably. We are on the way back home, exhausted. He was the 10th different buck I saw today.
