I love the last 2 weeks of October. Those little Mini cold fronts can stir up some serious action

Well, tested positive for COVID today. So, might hunt a lot this week as long as I feel ok.

That is as good a reason as any. Can’t work and can’t see folks so sit in the woods by yourself!

Side note, the October lull has been real in my woods. Saw some flicking tails to my east (on the neighbors property) on Saturday night but nothing ever crossed the property line. Every other camera has been so slow that I get maybe one picture a day. I had a doe down on October 7th last year and the leaves were all brown/yellow or off the trees. This year we still have green. We need a good few days of COLD weather and it will heat up.

The weather will finally cooperate this weekend it seems. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to hunt the public or go up north to the private land, but the time I procrastinate every year is finally over. My vacation days start next weekend as well.

Yeah, don’t rush it. I only posted in jest that since you had to quarantine anyway that you might be able to hunt. Take your and your family’s health first. God speed on recovery.

No worries guys. I've treated a lot of COVID patients, I know what to watch for. I wasn't so worried about sitting in a blind, but was worried about trying to drag a deer out and get it processed with the temps, lol.

I have a pretty mild case compared to what I've seen, but I'm vaxed and did regeneron really early. Feel great this morning, well see what the weather is going to do for an evening sit.

I'm out first sit of the year. Blind is awesome, even in the wind it ain't moving at all. Feel pretty good, though I better make a clean shot cause I get winded pretty easy.

Biding my time. In about 5 days my hunting time should really pick up as work responsibilities lessen. Time to get it on.

I am super happy with this deer. Genetically speaking, this size deer and point count is considered above average for the black hills. I made a 30 yard, thread the needle shot. Tracking it in snow was super easy
