Had a doe at 8 yds in the ground blind Sunday evening. I was looking to shoot a doe with a bad leg that's been frequenting the area but she never showed. Im back at it this evening and won't be so picky! 20180909_192229.jpeg

Hoping to check cameras one last time tonight but we'll see what kind of time I have after work.

Finally had a chance to check on one of my trail cams. Unfortunately this one is on a property I don't plan to hunt this year. Still wanting to keep tabs on it though.

Just found out that a piece a land I’m gonna get to hunt has a population of sika deer on it and I am allowed to take one if I want. Pretty excited about the opportunity

Checked cams on a farm that I picked up last year and shot my muzzleloader buck on Jan 8th. I was hunting a buck that would go into the 160 range but he shed before I could close the distance. Hoping he would show on camera this summer but hasn't yet. I figure his core area is on the neighbors and with all the acorns this year, it might take a few more weeks for him to show on cameras. I did get a new buck on cam that I don't recognize. Dandy 9pt with a crab claw left browtine. Looks to be 4yr old+. Definitely makes the hit list for the year

New 2 acre plot is coming in nicely.

Florence has put a halt on activity on my cams. Hopefully that will turn around. If not just like playing lawn darts. Never know where the season might land. :moose:

Man, I wish season opened this weekend. Cold front coming in this Friday evening with a temp drop of 20-25 degrees.... Opening weekend looks promising also with a high of 60 and lows in low 40's. Weather change should get some bucks on the ground.

That’s what I’m hoping for. Could be bitter sweet though has well with the one buck rule here in Ohio

I'd like to knock one out early to give me more time to take my 8 yr old out. Plus I'll be in Oklahoma 10/31-11/4 for muzzloader season and WV for rifle 11/19-11/20. Given the opportunity, first mature buck is going down.

I probably will if temperature allows or ahead of a front. Most likely will only hunt an acorn flat or trails heading back to bedding and leave the food plots for evening sits. Mid October, I'll transition to scrapes and food plots hunting both morning and evening.
